A Diamond In The Rough – The Dollhouse

September 20, 2011 at 10:24 am by Claudia

I painted the dollhouse porch floor. Since the surface was already rough (remember, this is a used dollhouse) I thought this diamond pattern might end up looking like a painted stone floor. At the very least, it adds interest and a wee bit of character.

Now I must work on the inside. I’m not sure where to start, so much has to be done.

My mantra: Just a little bit, every day.

Claudia, one day at a time and a little bit of mini-ing in that day. You will have it done before you know it! It is coming along nicely. Like the floor!

It looks wonderful! Was it hard to line it up with the porch rails attached already? This house is going to be fantastic when you are done! I have been working on mine also but have been quite lazy with it lately. A little here, a little there.

Cute as the proverbial bug’s ear! I mentioned my meltdown yesterday in my post today, and how you helped. Thanks my dear friend! And I got through that post without problems.

I bought a “used” dollhouse months ago and haven’t done a thing with it. I wanted one for so long and now I am afraid of all the work to make it the way I want it. Have you visited http://www.cynthiascottagedesign.blogspot.com/?

Yay, what a treat to see your dollhouse again Claudia! The door looks pretty, and what a great idea to do a diamond pattern on the porch, not something I’ve seen before and I certainly wouldn’t have thought of it but it looks really really nice.

You did a super job on the floor, Claudia. I love that diamond pattern and it does look like cement. Your verandah looks so inviting what with the little stool and flower pot. You have the magic touch!

Love your little adorable doll house. Think you did a fabulous job on the door and the tiled porch – splendid. When I was small my 2 sisters and I shared a fabulous dollhouse a relative made. You could lift the back roof off and then lift the second story floor out. I used to climb into it:) Amazing it survived and my daughter (who has 3 daughters) treasures it now.

Love it – wish I had the energy to do mine – but it’s so much bigger!!!!!

Are you putting a house number, or a name on the door? How about a little brass letterbox, and a lantern – that would be so cute too. This looks like so much fun, I may look for one of my own to reno.

You must be having a ball. Renovating on a small scale/budget must be a treat compared to the cottage.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
