Emerging

August 29, 2014 at 9:11 am by Claudia

I have emerged from the No Direct Sunlight Zone. No more antibiotics, thank goodness. A trip into NYC earlier in the week. And yesterday…a hike up in the mountains.

It’s been a long time! And my achy muscles have confirmed that this morning. But it was worth it.

aug friday me

Can you tell that I’m happy?

aug friday rocky path

The rock formations are incredible.

And you can’t beat the views.

It was so nice to get back up there. But it’s been so long that I’ll need to build up those hiking muscles again.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch:

aug friday new dawn rose

A few New Dawn rose buds are starting to open. This is a treat for me because most of them opened while I was away in Chautauqua, which made me sad. Hello beautiful rose.

And the morning glories keep coming.

Reminders: There’s a giveaway going on over at Just Let Me Finish This Page. There’s also a book review today of Invisible City by Julia Dahl. Stop on by.

Happy Friday.

What a beautiful place for a hike! No mountains where I am, just flat beaches. Glad you are up and at ’em!

What fun! And, love your hat (I need to get one like that since I try to get as little direct sun as possible). Love the picture with the rocks. And the views! I can’t wait to get back to New England (October I will). Hope your weekend weather is great — enjoy the long holiday weekend.

Yes! You look so Happy! And fit as a fiddle too.
I know you’re glad to be out and about. Enjoy it while the weather permits.
    As always beautiful flowers
It’s raining here today. It is the most lovely soft summer rain. I’m enjoying that!

I think I’m going to be pulling some weeds today, Pat – things got out of hand while I was indoors.

What absolutely gorgeous photographs, Claudia. The image of the clouds is spectacular. And I feel like leaning into the monitor to smell that rose. You have captured the fragility of the morning glory blossom perfectly. Morning glory plants are just one spiral after another. So much fun to watch them grow, produce buds and then those heavenly-blue flowers. Whoever named that variety got it just right, don’t you think?
On another topic, you look so tall and slender and healthy in that picture. Don, take note! (actually, I’m sure he has noticed)

You’re so sweet, Nancy. And yes, he noticed!

Heavenly Blue is the perfect name for that flower. Have a wonderful weekend.

Claudia you do look so happy and sassy in that photo! Love it! So glad you got out some this week. Do you have plans for the weekend? My oldest is flying in tomorrow from Cali and Sunday we are having a family get together. She hasn’t seen my Mom in several years and is really happy to visit even for just a few days. Now to clean that bed off so she has somewhere to sleep!
    hugs,
    Linda

Today I went outside and pulled most of the weeds that had accumulated. It felt so good to be outdoors working. Now, I’m having some lunch and taking it easy! Have a great weekend.

Oh how I long to be able to go for nice long walks through our little town and see all the blooming flowers and pretty yards but the instep of my right foot has fallen and it’s so painful. Long walks are out for now. The hiking pics are phenomenal. Love those rock formations. There’s just something so sweet about enjoying the great outdoors isn’t there? Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

I have to store it all up because when winter comes, hiking of any kind will be a lot tougher to pull off!

Gosh, the color of that New Dawn rose is just incredible. Looks like the perfect wedding or new baby girl rose. I’ll have to add this to my journal. Also DEE-lighted you are feeling so much better. But as my Mom always warned, “Don’t overdo too soon…” Be sure to sit around at least a little this weekend, feet up, reading or even napping. :>)

I know, that soft pink is so lovely. I’m taking it easy over the weekend, Janet, though we’ll probably do some mowing. Today I pulled lots of weeds. Now I’m catching up on the blog and I’m going to do some reading.

I stopped eating sugar early in the year and that helped a lot, Sue. I lost a nice amount of weight.

The views are spectacular! I can only imagine how much you missed it.
I now join the same club you just left. I must avoid the sun, and drink my coffee black for the next few weeks. I was bitten by the dreaded tick. They really seem to enjoy me for some reason. This is not the most perfect time for this, but is there ever a good time to be kept indoors?

Oh darn it, Trudy! I’m sorry to hear that. I wouldn’t wish it on anybody. But it’s only a few weeks and if you go outdoors, just make sure you’ve got a hat on and are covered up. It’s a pain, isn’t it?

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
