From our foggy, dewy, soon-to-be-unbearably-humid garden. One more day of this crap and then we’ll have some relief.
This may be my favorite of the many zinnias blooming in the garden.
Also seen this morning, exiting after having flown into the center of a morning glory:
Love seeing the pollen on his legs.
I’m going to try to weed whack this morning before it gets too hot. Don is going to do a bit of mowing.
I’m just now relaxing after a very stressful and packed two weeks. It feels good. I officially started one-on-one coaching for the movie with a session yesterday afternoon.
I can now attend to some things around here – I haven’t painted in about 3 weeks due to a combination of things; needing a break, the whole Beacon Hill dollhouse trip, the initial email from Jim and then two weeks of wondering if I would get the job, discovering that the Beacon Hill smells musty, researching what to do about it and working on that when I wasn’t working on my interview for the movie job. And life.
Hopefully, I’ll get back to painting tomorrow when the temperature drops and the excess humidity leaves. Once again, we have a heat advisory today. August has been hellish, weather-wise.
Drum roll: yes, I’m going to say it now. I’m looking forward to Fall. Maybe August is what it is in order to have our bodies and minds accept and even welcome the seasonal change. It sure is this year.
Getting close to finishing The Woman in Blue by Elly Griffiths. I have the next one in the series in my TBR pile. I find that even though I have lots of other books I want to start, I end up choosing the next Griffiths because I’m hooked.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

Yes, I felt the same way when I read the Elly Griffiths’ books. I just wanted to keep going to see what might happen next.
I do wish the heat and humidity would let up. I feel like I am spending way to much time inside just reading and not feeling like doing anything productive! I blame the heat but I might just be getting a wee bit lazy! :)
Hope your weekend is nice!

We mowed this morning and we shouldn’t have! It was way too humid out there.
Now we’ll be wiped out for the next two days.
Stay safe, Ellen.

Yes, the Ruth G. stories are kinda like that. I just got the last one in the series and am reading it slowly, as we try to pack up…and deal with life. It’s hard.
Claudia says
I’m sorry, Shanna. You must be sad to leave that lovely cottage. Thinking of you both.
Stay safe.

It’s hot and humid here too. High 80’s which is about as high as it gets. Every once in a while we might reach 90. It will be close in the next day or two. Next week should be cooler and lower humidity.
I’m looking forward to all things fall.
You have gotten me hooked on Elly Griffiths too. I just finished the 2nd in the series and just downloaded the 3rd.
Stay safe

Keep enjoying Griffiths, Marilyn!
Stay safe.

I know what you mean about the Griffiths. I’m hooked, too. I’m on the third John Madden (Rennie Airth) now. There aren’t as many in the series. Yet!
I’m so glad you get a little R&R time. You deserve it. That heat wears a person out. I find myself terribly exhausted today. I’d had to adjust my sleep schedule because I got off on my meds, which may be a factor, staying up too late and hotwired to get up when I do. Icky headache, which may be sinus. Or, they could be effects from my booster shot yesterday. I’m thinking not; I’m prone to sinus head anyway. I’m so relieved to have it — My cousin’s son is getting married in Cleveland in October. So far it is still a big wedding, much to his parents’ frustration. (Outdoor wedding; indoor reception.) They’ll insist on masks but by then everyone’s efficacy might be wearing down. I’d like to hope they’d pick tables of four or six rather than eight or ten but I’m not terribly optimistic.
I was surprised — I just walked in and told them I wasn’t a transplant case or on chemo or autoimmune, I just had several key morbidities, but perhaps not first tier. I had my first six months to the day. They said “no problem.” Filled out a form and that was it. That was at Walgreen’s. (Pfizer) I was fully prepared to not get it but thrilled that I did.
I really need to do something productive in the house but I just don’t have the motivation. Maybe later.
Have a terrific weekend and enjoy time doing whatever you like — a book, a doll house, a painting… you have earned it!

We made the mistake of mowing and weed whacking in unbearable humidity this morning, so we’re pretty wiped out!
Stay safe, Jeanie.

So happy for you about your new job! Is that the same Jim Parsons that was on Big Bang Theory? I am looking so forward to Fall. It has always been my favorite time of year…….cooler weather! Looking forward to a relaxing weekend myself. Be well!
Claudia says
Yes. My friend Rick and I auditioned and accepted Jim into the MFA Acting program at the Old Globe/University of San Diego. I was his voice/speech/dialect teacher and I worked with him a lot. We are good friends.
Thanks, Deb.
Stay safe.

Yes to autumn! And that’s from a girl who loves summer completely. I’m ready for air that’s not like living inside the forest fires. I’m ready to stop stressing about the animals and burnt trees and lost homes.
With the floods and storms and heat in other corners of the country, sounds like everyone else feels the same way.
I’m ready to look forward to something–anything–I’m not picky!
As always, I’m grateful to be here with other like-minded and wonderful people!
Claudia says
I bet you’re ready for fall. The fires are tragic and heartbreaking and living with them constantly is too much.
Stay safe, Roxie.

Glad you get to relax now. You’ve all convinced me to start reading the Elly Griffiths. So question…would it be best to start with her first…or can you just start anywhere in the series?
It sounds like you’ve got an ‘in’ on the housing for your new work situation coming up. Hope it all works out for you. Enjoy your evening! ;)
Claudia says
You should start with her first, Donna. This series needs to read in order.
Thanks so much!
