April 7, 2023 at 9:21 am by Claudia

This ‘crud’ is never-ending. Don still has it and it’s been over 2 weeks. I had to go into the city yesterday for 5 hours of rehearsal and, adding in the four hour total commute, my day was very long. Today, I am wiped out. Completely. Lots of pollen in NYC, which doesn’t help. As it is now, I’ll take today off, go in tomorrow, take Sunday off, go in on Monday, take Tuesday off, and go in on Wednesday. Then I’ll get a bit of a break while they start to tech the show.

I can’t do two days in a row.

Daffodils on the edge of the woods.

And this season, the little clumps of daffs that have spread are also blooming.

I have no energy or time to start garden cleanup, so it will have to wait.

Pippa with the egg cups.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

going in every other day is so exhausting when sick! i’m glad you get a day off in between to do nothing but take it easy. prayers continue for you and don to feel better soon.

glad you have the daffodils to enjoy. they are beautiful!

the photo with pippa shows a good perspective on that wonderful collection of egg cups!

my taxes are done and i am relieved about that.

getting Easter groceries later today after spending time with members of my family. :)

no luck yet in finding a cupboard (to hold books, etc.) in my living room, but just getting started on that. still, ready to get that done and crossed off my to-do list.

happy Good Friday to everyone. stay safe.

I cannot tell you how much I dread the next several days but I’ll just have to take it one day at a time.

Glad your taxes are done, Kathy! We have yet to do ours, but we always file for an extension.

You’ll find that cupboard, Kathy. I know you will.

      Stay safe.

I slept a lot last night.

I’ll probably nap later on today.

      Thanks, Betsy.

Your egg cup collection is impressive when you see it all together. That cubby is perfect to hold it all.
I’m concerned Don should be feeling better after 2 weeks. Perhaps it’s time for a Dr visit? Maybe it’s time for antibiotics? I’m concerned about you also, having to work. Can you do anything by Zoom? Having to go into the city must take alot of energy. I’m glad you at least have a day off in between. Get as much rest as you can…if you’re not up to blogging we all understand.
    Take care

We’ve heard from many people that this particular upper respiratory thing lasts over two weeks. It hangs on for a while.

Don was just at the doctor last week. He’s fine. And no, I can’t do anything more via Zoom. We’re doing run-throughs of the show until next week when it moves to the theater. I have to be there.

      Thanks so much, Marilyn.

      Stay safe.

So sorry to hear the crud lingers on! I had bronchitis in January and the “crud” in March, and both times it took several weeks to get back on my feet. Hopefully you’ll start to feel better soon, just in time to start enjoy early bloomers and nesting birds! Spring’s arrival will be most welcome this year – here in Wisconsin we’ve had more than our fill of snow and bitter winds.
I loved your egg cup stories – it’s the stories behind the collecting that brings the joy, isn’t it? I think every item in my house has a story to tell! I hope both you and Don are on the road to recovery and have a quiet, joy filled Easter.

It really is taking a long time, Martha. But from comments like yours and those of other people I know, I guess that’s the way this thing goes.

Yes, it’s always the stories behind the finds.

Thanks so much and Happy Easter.

      Stay safe.

If I could send you some strength and endurance with all that commuting and feeling unwell; oh I wish…

…in the meantime, enjoy the beautiful yellow daffys and have a restful Easter Sunday, best to you and Don, Claudia.

(My roses are slow this year; maybe by Mother’s Day … but the callas are abundant [and they do seem Easter-ish!].)

Thank you, Vicki. All we have our daffs right now, and the very beginning of the forsythia.

      Stay safe and Happy Easter.

You and Don could do with some TLC. It’s certainly taking a good while for you both to feel better. Hope you don’t run out of provisions, Claudia. It looks like you might have room for a few more eggcups. Loved Pippa standing (sitting) guard. She’s a cutie. Take care. Hugs, Elaine

So sorry that it’sthe neverending crud. Ugh. It’s so reassuring that you know your limits and are working as best you can. Hopefully you can power through, knowing that you can recuperate once your work commitment is finished. I know you make a difference to your actors!

Thank you for the daffodil photos. They are exactly what I needed today. Gray skies and another chance of precipitation here in the Sierra rainshadow. Last year at this time my forsythia were rampant with bloom–a sure sign that Spring was there to stay. This year, the buds have not even begun to swell. Yet somehow there is plenty of pollen to kick off seasonal allergies. Alas!

I think today is a good day to organize more photos. And to play with my dolls, who actually have Easter dresses and baskets since I have duplicates of the set I made my grand-daughter.

I hope you and Don both soon are feeling better and can enjoy your Spring garden.

Oh, I’m so sorry you’re both still sick! Claudia, it’s good that you have a break between days you need to go in to work!

I love the whole egg cup display…looks like a vintage cubby… it’s perfect! And Pippa is darling!

My husband and I got a cold from one of the grandchildren in January. We were sick for over a month and then mine turned into a sinus infection. I had to go to a doctor. I hope that you two will be better before that much time. We are lucky in that we are retired and don’t have to go anywhere much. My dog did get sick too during that time with something different and I had to go to the vet several times, but I wore a mask and hoped that they would not get close to me. They didn’t. You are probably totally tired of this stuff, but it will end soon I am sure. Thanks for the egg cup season pictures. They have been a delight to see. You probably haven’t even felt like going to so much effort for our enjoyment, but you did it anyway. Thanks and I hope you two will feel better very soon.

In some ways I’m doing better, but it changes from day to day. I just sneezed 16 times, so there’s that. (Pollen, I’m sure.)

      Stay safe, Beverly.

I hadn’t mentioned anything earlier because I thought maybe whatever you and Don had was different from what I had. I also called and continue to call it the crud. I was dealing with one symptom or another for almost the entire month of March. I later read that it was highly contagious and kindly shared it with my husband who is still fighting the cough. We did not have a fever like some have had, but we both started out with a scratchy throat and then a very sore throat that lasted a few days and of course the cough was the worst. I actually pulled a muscle, I coughed so hard. I also lost my voice for several days. I am finally on the last bits of light coughing that still can be unpredictable. We both had a weird sensation of something being stuck in our throat that was irritating and took forever to go away. The one thing that helped the most with the throat and cough are Ricola Cherry Honey Herb throat drops. We still pop one every now and then. I know you don’t do sugar and these do have sugar in them – FYI. Also lots of tea with lots of raw honey. My husband did miss a week of work because of this crud but has managed to go back with the help of the Ricola and the raw honey in his tea. I hope you feel better soon. I can actually say that I know how you feel.

Just lay as low as you can, as much as you can, my friend. I hope it eases soon.

I love seeing the whole of the collected egg cups. They really are wonderful. I only have a couple — not old or so unique but when I look at them, I think of you!

    Happy Easter!

Nurse Claudia, I was finally able to see Spoiler Alert and of course sobbed through the whole thing. I recognized your voice and then saw you. You did look very sympathetic. They were right to leave in everything you said. It was a lovely film although at times I did want to smack Sally Field. She was a little annoying. I watched until I could see your name in the credits. What a great experience. Good for you!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
