I had to crop the heck out of this photo so you wouldn’t see too much of the wallpaper coming unglued. If you look to the left of the painting, you’ll see it. After many years, these things happen. I’ll have to take a serious inventory of needed repairs. On the other hand, I’m usually looking at the exterior of this dollhouse and only rarely look at the interior – mostly at Christmas time.
I am going to order more of this miniature Roseville for the Beacon Hill.
I don’t know if you remember but I have two Beacon Hills; the “finished” dollhouse we brought home after making a long trip to Philadelphia suburbs in order to retrieve it, and the unfinished kit which is still in the box. I had planned on building it and then realized that I didn’t want to. I’m going to open the box today so I can see what I might use to fix some parts of the dollhouse.
The box is heavy, big, and awkward. Wish me luck.
It may not rain today. It’s definitely cloudy out there and we have the chance of a thunderstorm both today and tomorrow, but I’m hoping they hold off. Phileas the frog is clearly living in the culvert. Don went down there yesterday and as he drew nearer, he heard him jump into the water. So he sang to him, of course.
I’ll try to get some updated photos of the porch today. The potted plants have really taken off and are growing by leaps and bounds. After mowing a few days ago, Don and I sat on the glider and gazed at the fully leafed out trees and our property and the porch and had a tremendous moment of gratitude. My dream was always to have a little cottage in the country and it seemed that it would be an impossible dream for most of my life. But it came true.
We’re so grateful.
Ruby on the porch.
Okay. Must make our second cup of coffee!
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.
i am so happy for you that your “little cottage in the country” dream came true!!!
and that phileas is sticking around. must be the nice neighbors who sing to him. :)
good luck with the big heavy box. hopefully there are things in it that you can use elsewhere.
here’s the follow-up about the treat i mentioned last time … when in the small town where my father was born and raised, my sister and i stopped in a cute shop that had a mix of new decor and antiques. also a little coffee shop in the back (so we bought cold drinks for the long no-air-conditioning ride home). then i saw something that i instantly knew would stay in my thoughts either as happiness that i bought it or regret that i didn’t. so i chose happiness in the form of a $35 old flat wooden (hat?) rack, not quite five feet long and maybe four or five inches tall, with the oldest nails i think i’ve ever seen and slightly chipped, somewhat faded, beautiful old paint in a french-y/ swedish-y blue (one of my most favorite colors). even though there is no wall space to put it in my parents’ townhome, i am glad and grateful to have something else from a sweet little town that holds so many wonderful memories of/with my family. :)
hope you, don and everyone else have happiness and good days. stay safe.

It sounds just lovely! So happy you found it, Kathy.
Stay safe.
thanks, claudia. i am pleased to have it. the shop owner told me that her son and daughter-in-law found it for her (to sell) at a farmhouse-with-antique-shop somewhere north of albany, new york. :) don’t know how she chose to part with it, but am glad she did.
hope you and don have a nice night.

In my neck of the woods.

OK, call me crazy but for awhile I thought that was your living room with the pottery on the fireplace and it wasn’t synching up — I didn’t remember seeing that view in your home and wondered why you were so worried about the wallpaper and showing it because that happens. Then I realized it was the dolls house!
Good luck with the weather. If you get the storm that pummeled us last night beware of tornadoes and trees down. Our neighborhood is a mess. Rick has a tree on his roof and some eave damage. He was one of the lucky ones. I was luckier — no damage. I finally got power — his is due to be back May 21. Needless to say, my freezer is stuffed with his food. Thinking lovely thoughts for your weather.
We don’t have a fireplace, Jeanie. We wish we did, but no.
I don’t think we’ll get that storm. I’m so sorry to hear of the damage! That’s terrible. There’s Rick, having just been up at the cottage taking care of repairs, and now this! I’m glad you’re nearby and can save his food.
Stay safe, Jeanie.
