Thank you so much for all the great comments on the quilt. It is far from perfect, but I love it. One thing that finishing this quilt has accomplished is to get me excited to start another one – which I will do once I get to Hartford. This next quilt will not be queen sized, however!
I’m in the midst of making lists, running errands and getting ready to pack tomorrow for the trip to Hartford on Thursday. Between books to read, craft supplies, a sewing machine (still to be determined), my iron, all my reference books and script, clothes and food, computer, camera and lenses – yikes – you see what I’m up against. But five weeks is a long time. And I’m a nester. Fortunately, Trader Joe’s is on the way to Hartford – we’ll stop there for food and some fresh flowers. This time I’m taking the pink hobnail vase along with me. A touch of home. And fresh flowers. All this stuff will have to be carted over to the apartments when I move there at the end of the month which only makes things more complicated.

It is April 16th and it looks like it should be March 16th out there in the garden. I’ll miss the tulips blooming and perhaps the lilacs. I plan on coming home for a few days right after the first of May, so that I can mulch, plant seeds and fill my pots with flowers, none of which I can do at the moment. It’s been too darned cold. I haven’t touched the porch yet. Did I mention it’s been cold? Yesterday, in the late afternoon, it finally seemed like spring. I could smell it in the air. But now I’m under a deadline and I don’t have the time to do much more outside. Ah well. It is what it is.
Don will be back tomorrow with the final installment of his Prague series. For all of you who have suggested he start a blog: he has started a couple of blogs in the past but it’s just not his thing. He gets bored. And yes, he is a wonderful writer. I’m always trying to get him to write a novel. If you want to see and hear his writing at its best, listen to the incredible lyrics he writes for his songs. He’s a poet, my husband. That he is.
My heart is heavy for my beloved Boston. Such heartbreak, such a senseless act.

I have so enjoyed his posts about his trip. I’d love to see the movie he was acting in but since we have no television, I don’t see how we can. I’m sure he did great. My question is why did they have to go all the way to Prague for that one scene? Lucky for Don, but that’s a long way to go for one scene.
Tragic about Boston. Hubs and I both cried watching it on the internet news.

Connie, he spoke about one scene specifically, but he’s in 8 or 9 scenes and there even more scenes besides that.
I am so happy to see those beautiful green plants! My garden is under a fresh blanket of snow and so I begin my wait again- I think this will be a wonderful growing season since we have all had to be so patient in waiting for it to start :) My heart is with Boston today also. I pray that we can start respecting each other and treating each other with kindness and love and stop this madness that seems to be growing and growing.
Claudia, I find so much comfort in the words of the wonderful old gentleman Fred Rogers, “Look for the helpers, when you see something scary on TV or around you,Look for the helpers there will always be good people around!” I know what you mean Claudia,it is so hard to see and hear those horrible things I know we are adults and we have to process this differently. None the less I want to try not to be over come with hatred and anger,because that is so easily passed on,to our kids and Grand kids. Claudia, I am a little late commenting on your quilt, and want to say that it is just lovely! I love the lively prints, and think the quilt looks darling with your headboard. I am like you, I favor the collected look of the English cottage. I know these days, all things French is “in” as we see on many blogs. I also like that more sophisticated, subdued style, but the charm and warmth of the English cottage wins my heart.
I have enjoyed listening to Don’s music. A poet. Lucky girl!!
The bombings in Boston have left me so angry. I can’t imagine what could make someone do that. And I want them to pay. My intellectual side says that is fruitless but my heart wants revenge of some sort. Ahh well, its good that I’m not in charge. :)
I enjoyed Don’s posts and maybe he can just share your blog sometimes. It might be fun to hear what Dad and Scout do at home without Mama.
If you have a suitcase with wheels maybe you can use that to truck all your things to the apartments when it is time? OR maybe some young strong actors?

You sound like me when I get ready to go to the Lake. Even if it’s just overnight, I have my knitting bag with at least 2-3 projects in it. Books, a movie or two on DVD and then of course there is clothing and food etc. Lots of “stuff”. Hubby throws in his clothes. That’s it.
I’m looking forward to Don’s next post. He is a great writer.

You certainly have a lot to do! How nice to see your buds…still none here…guess the ground isn’t warm enough yet. I’m trying to do yard work in between rainy days…at least we are out of the drought! Have a safe trip! ;)

I am so happy that I can finally look out my windows and see green everywhere..and my beautiful willow tree is weeping green again..I’ll never understand why people want to harm others..it is so much easier to be nice..As for Don..he is such a talented man..it is sad that the two of you must be apart again so soon..but I guess you are used to that being in the acting profession..I look forward to Don’s little tour of Prague tomorrow..Hugs
Spring is wonderful, whenever it comes. We are a little late here too – but today is glorious. Have a grand trip.
Ooh, I am now inspired to paint at least a portion of my fence red so my greenery has a pretty background color to blossom on!

Packing is the worst, isn’t it? Just getting the list together, making room for it all, deciding what to take, what to leave… the rush! It stresses me out. I feel for you.
I’ve loved reading Don’s posts…can’t wait to see it. I’ll be watching for it, and I’m sure you’ll let us know an ‘air date’ ahead of time. The Honey is a big Am.Experience fan…so I’ve told him to watch for it as well.
Heartache for our country and the people of Boston especially.
