I haven’t touched on it, simply because it seemed wise to keep mum, but since it all came to a head yesterday, I’ll fill you in.
Caroline has been upset with me for the past couple of months. Why, you ask? Well, I’ve been upstairs in the new office/studio space working on another project. For someone else. Caroline’s house has been turned so that the front of it is facing into the den and I haven’t really had anything to do with it. I’ve barely checked in.
I tried to explain that the new project was for Don and it was for a special birthday, blah, blah, blah, and though she somewhat understood, her nose was definitely out of joint.
“When you worked on my house, you were downstairs all the time. Now you’re hidden away upstairs!”
“If I call out to you, you can’t hear me.”
Point taken. I spent some time with her yesterday, as she had an issue with the shelf on the wall in the living room – the one that was displaying some Roseville pottery. It kept falling down. Both she and I were sick of trying to reattach it only to have it fall down again and we were worried about the Roseville breaking.
After throwing around some ideas, we came up with a solution. The shelf has been taken down and the Roseville is now here:
We even pulled the fireplace away from the wall so you could better see what we’ve done.
We all know that displaying favorite collections together in a group makes a powerful statement, right?
Ignore the somewhat disconcerting appearance of a blueberry pie on the kitchen floor. That’s part of a review I’m going to do tomorrow for a new monthly subscription called SquintBox:

Caroline and I chatted for quite a while and she seems happy now. Of course, she wants to visit the new Studio, but we’ll have to ask the resident for permission. He’s very protective about his personal space!

I must admit to wondering how Caroline was taking all this attention to another mini! I am glad you were able to solve the shelf issue. No one wants their Roseville to break! Looking forward to your review and seeing more of Caroline’s space.

Caroline was not happy, but I can understand it. I was not very good about checking in! Now, at least, we’ve talked it through and she’s happy once again.
I absolutely LOVE when you talk “dollhouse ” . Its so real I just want to come visit with Caroline although I bet she is rather particular who she allows in her fabulous home as she should be. Im glad she feels better now. :) Love the pottery displayed that way.. good solution
I think it looks good. Speaking of jealousy – I’m rather jealous that Caroline has a fireplace and a mantel and I have to remind her that she is lucky, as we don’t have one.
I love the fire place and the pieces on it.. It might well be better than a shelf.. You know I’m so sure in my mamas basement there is a vase in marroon color The more I see your vases I believe it to be the same. But it has a crack in it but still lovely. Happy Sunday with love Janice

That Caroline! The Roseville looks very nice on the mantel – it gives each piece room to be admired individually. I’ve been reading about SquintBox, so I look forward to reading your review of this service.
We’ve had thunderstorms every day so far in July and today is no exception. The upside is that between the sun and rain the wildflowers I planted are pretty much maintenance free. As it’s absolutely pouring out at the moment, I’m leaning toward making another coffee and watching “The Usual Suspects” which I should add to my stop-and-watch list. I would watch Gabriel Byrne in anything. My daughter says it’s daft to have a crush on a film actor, but she fancies your Joe Biden so I guess we’re even.

Maybe you should introduce Caroline and the guy who lives in the studio. You never know what might happen between the two of them!

I swear, looking at that one shot of the living room with the fireplace and everything in its place (even the pie on the floor), it looks like a real live space, a regular house, not a mini at all. And really so very pretty. Caroline is one lucky gal!

Always in awe when permitted a view into Caroline’s cottage; rooms I’d love to live in. But I could never display Roseville like she does unless they were anchored; we’re in earthquake-ville!
How do you think they stay on the mantle, Vicki??? They’re attached with Tacky Wax, which is not unlike the stuff I used in California to secure my own pottery.
