Miniature Gifts

January 18, 2020 at 10:54 am by Claudia

Just got back from getting some last minute groceries before the snow comes, so I’m running a wee bit late this morning.

I received a package from Barbara the other day, filled with miniature goodies. I finally got a chance to take some photos of them yesterday.

I took this in the vintage dollhouse. I put a piece of cardstock with a wallpaper-like pattern against the wall – just for fun.

Here we have a lovely wooden trunk with 1776 on the front, some china, some coffee, and a tart.

A beautiful bookcase. Isn’t it lovely?

A mini-quilt.

Some beautiful books. I’m pretty sure Barbara made these.

And some pewter: a plate and candlesticks.

Isn’t it lovely? I’m not sure where I’m going to use everything yet, but that’s the fun of adding to your stash.

I have, however, added the books to the built-in shelves in the Lake House.

Nothing has been styled, as of yet. I’m just playing. I love this little house.

Thank you, Barbara! You are too generous and I love everything. (Barbara also included a lovely journal.)

Today I have to tape some lines in a Yorkshire dialect for one of the actresses in Jane Eyre. And I’m going to start back in on the stonework for the English Cottage/Dumpster Dollhouse. I finished the Maigret mystery and I’ve started The Night Fire  by Michael Connelly.

And we’ll watch the snow fall.

Happy Saturday.

I may have a few items for decor, somewhere. Always a challenge to find things that aren’t used.
I will let you know when/if I find them, and ask if you want them. To a good home!

I love your new dollhouse items! Barbara is a very generous friend! The tiny books are amazing. Well, it’s 11:20 and the snow has begun in North Jersey. I have a new mystery and soup on the stove, so I am prepared. Stay cozy.

That tiny blue china! Books are perfect for the Lake House, too. Such lovely little gifts.

About Michael Connelly’s books— are they ones to be read in order, or any which way you choose?

They tend to be stand alone, but that being said, they’re in a series and the characters change over time, so I’d advise reading them in order. Thanks, Shanna!

Oh, the wondrous miniatures. I am in awe. They amaze me each time you show them, and it is hard for my brain to understand how people can make these tiny things that absolutely look like “regular sized” items. Barbara is a very generous and talented friend, for sure!!

    Great photos!
Alas, I cannot take credit for this particular selection of books. They were part of a large custom order from Minnies Miniatures (France) that I had made. I like her work, so I thought I’d share the unused surplus between mini friends. That said, I am in the midst of making dozens of fancy volumes for a mini library. There are some wonderful “printies” available on Etsy/online and it’s a great way to recycle cardboard and paper. Only about two hundred left to go..

Well, it’s generous of you to share! I’m thinking of making some mini books myself! But first…stone work. Thank you again, Barbara!

I’m glad you have that dollhouse category at the top of your page. I couldn’t remember which house was the Lake House. Barbara was generous indeed…those books look like they were made for those bookshelves.

Hope you don’t get too much snow. We got about 5.5 inches…now, it’s the winds. They are mighty fierce. Stay warm! ;)

It’s still snowing out there, so I have no idea how much we’ll get.

We’ve had such high winds this winter! Much more than usual.
      Thanks, Donna!

what little marvels those things are … it kind of boggles my mind to think about how someone can make something so small yet so realistic!

i know you will enjoy placing them around, claudia, because they look great, meant-to-be with you.

nice of barbara to send them to you!

we have lots of snow here … maybe eight inches (?) and the winds drifted it higher in places for being steady at 35 to 45 mph, with some gusts over 60. and worse … ice. ugh. hope you are spared that.

hope you are having a good weekend and everyone in the path of this snow/ice storm is stocked up, can stay safe, warm and dry at home!

I’m so sorry about the ice. That, to me, is much worse than snow. We didn’t get ice, just 4 inches or so, but we will have winds (yet again) later in the day today.

      Stay safe my friend!

The miniatures are so charming. The painting and the vase on the mantle of the Lake House caught my eye.

The painting was painted by another miniaturist and I got it in my one-and-only swap. I like it. The vases are what are known as ‘feves’ the little trinkets that are placed in a King Charles Cake. Some of them work beautifully in dollhouses. Thanks, Lynda.

So darned cute! I love how they look — even unstyled! What a great and kind gift.

Don’t you love Maigret? Short but always good twists!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
