A large group of New England Asters has cropped up in the main garden bed. There are even more than this picture indicates. That was a total surprise – that splash of color is so welcome! If you look closely, you’ll see a bee on one of the flowers.
I haven’t done a puzzle in a long time. I think I needed a break. But reader Kathy sent me this one a while back and I finally got to it. I think I have my puzzle mojo back! Thanks so much, Kathy.
On Saturday, I had to pick up a book from the library and we decided to walk through a couple of buildings in what used to be our former hardware store (I really miss the hardware store.) It’s a collective so there are lots of booths. Some antiques, some vintage, some homemade candles and jewelry, some vintage clothing, and of course, some junk. One booth had a couple of things that took my fancy.
This tiny little Effanbee doll. I think she must have been a Christmas themed girl. I was just so taken by her outfit – the coat is corduroy, the little flowers are embroidered, and the hat! She is so whimsical and she was only a few dollars.
And this chair:
It was in the same booth. It seems a tad larger than 1:12 scale, but it works. And it turns out to be made of plastic! I’m not sure if it will go in this house or in my stash, but it was only $3, so what the heck! I hardly ever see miniatures in the local antique shops, and I contributed to our local economy.
The wallpaper I ordered for the dollhouse bathroom is finally arriving today. Hopefully, I’ll get to hang it tomorrow. (Monday mail always arrives late in the day.)

Lovely Asters! Always fun to shop Vintage and to find a few little bits to add to your doll house is great! I am ready for a break from the heat so I can start to get some outdoor walking in. Take care!

so far today i’ve done usual things, like walking in lovely misty weather for over an hour, feeding earl and the birds, spending three hours at the mostly-quiet church office, a tiny bit of knitting, a bit of tidying, and now am about halfway through with laundry. might sound like i have a little mojo here, but no, not really today. i’m tired and trying to not take a nap. it’s overcast and cool-ish (just over 60 degrees) … great weather for a nap.

Good Morning Claudia! Those asters are lovely. I have a bunch of hybrid bright red ones given to me by my Dad’s partner years ago as they were closing up their garden on their Cape Cod property. They bloom late but are reliable and vigorous and beautiful every year. I have the wild weedy ones I call “petticoat asters” (don’t know their real name) because they make a froth of light lavender tiny blossoms and show up under the edges of bushes and garden borders everywhere at this time of year. So welcome and the bees of all sorts love them. The garden is definitely slowing down, but my roses keep opening the stray blossom or three!
That little doll is adorable! She looks mad as hell to have to wear her best clothes for the party! And pose for a picture no less! :):) I wonder what her story is…. and that chair too…. to be so all alone after so many years….. but now they have your home to live in and be appreciated again. :)
We have those petticoat asters as well – actually, all sorts of asters!
