Ode to Anne

January 27, 2009 at 11:57 am by Claudia

Is anyone else out there a fan of Anne of Green Gables? I sure am! I love this story and have a secret wish to visit Prince Edward Island and soak up all things Anne. I bought this edition of the book when I first arrived here in San Diego. It was on sale at Barnes and Noble. I’ve watched the made for television version many, many times. Such beautiful cinematography, such wonderful acting by all of the cast.

A few years back, when I was working here full-time, I coached a production of “The Seagull.” I love Chekhov so I was certainly looking forward to the coaching process. What sent me over the edge, though, was the chance to work with Megan Follows. She was cast as one of the leads and all I could think was “I get to work with Anne!” I’m glad to say she was delightful, a wonderful actress and lovely to work with. After the obligatory “Anne of Green Gables” conversation, I asked her if she ever got tired of people talking to her about it. After all, she did it years ago and now she was an adult with children. She said that she never did and she was proud of being part of such a wonderful production.

I’m looking forward to reading the book again, and watching the DVD. What a nice way to while away my time here.

I love all things “Anne” too, and Megan Fellows will always be Anne to me. She was perfectly cast, I think.

I enjoy The Road to Avonlea TV series too, and have recently started to collect those DVDs.

That is so cool that you go to work with her. You might like the blog on my list called “Aiken Home and Garden”. She lives on PEI and I love to “visit” her. Well, I suppose I should have scanned your blog list first before I wrote this. You may already know her. xo rachel

Claudia! I remember being so excited to understudy her in that production. I practically squealed with delight when I found out about her casting. In fact, I DID squeal!

Reading your blog has brought back many wonderful memories of San Diego. As you know, it was a difficult time for me personally, but I find that the more years that separate me from grad school, the more the pleasant memories come to the forefront.

I simply adore your blog. It is sooooo wonderful to feel connected to you and Don again after several years. The cabin is beautiful!

    Love you!

I love Anne of Green Gables too, it holds a special place in my heart, as I’m sure it does with many of us romantics out in blogland. It’s charming to read that Megan Fellows is a kind soul, I’ve often wondered and you’ve made my day in a way. Read your post above too about the fresh flowers and agree they so change the expression of a room. Happy week!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
