Smoke yesterday and today. I don’t know about tomorrow yet, but the air quality is ‘Unhealthy.’ We kept the windows cracked, but just barely. We’re going to go get an air conditioner today because it’s hot in this house and, of course, even hotter with the windows shut. We’re getting out there early today and we’ll wear masks.

Despite my out-of-whack sinuses and allergies – I mean, 3 days of rain, storms, high mold and mildew counts and then, immediately into an air quality warning and smoke – I somehow managed to finish working on the office. I cleared out the closet (a huge trash bag full of stuff), rearranged the shelf under the work table, cleaned off the desk, organized everything, found a better spot for my easel, etc. But it was hot up there and I had to take a break during the morning session because I felt a bit woozy.

I took a shower and turned on the heating pad. Much to my surprise, I went back at it later in the day and finished everything. There are still things to be sorted but it’s much better now. I finished it off by vacuuming the room. Now, Don says he’s inspired to clear off his desk. (Fingers crossed!) I’ve more puzzles to donate and some stuffed animals to donate to a charity.

I’ll take another pass at it in a few months.

Thought you might like to see the putz sheep again, since they were overseeing my work.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

What a good feeling…to get things gone through and organized! And to do it all through those conditions! Hope things start to get better! We could use some rain, but it’s supposed to really warm up today and tomorrow. Your sheep shelf is fun!

congratulations on a job well done and especially when you’ve not been feeling well! now you can rest and relax (and if you’re like me, go look at your efforts several times throughout the day and smile). :)

love the sheep supervisors. and the cloudy-sky paper behind them is perfect!

good luck with the air conditioner purchase (i still wear a mask in stores) and installation and then enjoy more coolness!

    happy, safe friday to everyone.

Shelf looks wonderful. Those sheep are just the cutest. Doesn’t it feel good to see a prized collection spotlighted? I am using my horrible air quality time in Michigan to clean closets and donate lots of goodies to those less fortunate. I am downsizing my crafts and sewing supplies. I refer to this process as “creative avoidance.” Since I can’t go outside at all into my garden, I have to do something positive. God will take care of my garden for me for the next few days. Take it easy in this heat and I hope you find the perfect air conditioner.

That shelf is so cute for displaying the sheep, the white against the background color.

    Hope A/C shopping is successful.

Decluttering results are such a good feeling. Pleased you were able to do as much as you did, despite the heat. I’m assuming your upstairs is even warmer than the downstairs? I just took a carful of donations to the animal shelter thrift shop, another carful to the senior center thrift shop, and a carful to the hazardous waste disposal facility (personal care products, small appliances, batteries). The area in the garage where I collect donations is clear and we’re starting all over!

I’d done my research. Once we got there, it took about 5 minutes to load it in our cart, pay for it, and leave the store.

It’s in and it’s much better inside.

Yes, we have a warmer upstairs than downstairs.

      Stay safe, Wendy.

dear Claudia/Don — good for you– re decluttering — always a BIG project around here, haha!! how does all that stuff get in here anyway?? we have a whole house full and 2 barns full of stuff. Have told our girls that when time comes, just park a dumpster in the driveway and toss stuff out the windows — not much to keep — we have enough furniture, accessories, dishes, etc for three houses!! of course, won’t be MY problem then, ha !! hope your AC search is successful, not stressful. stay safe

We don’t have kids to deal with it, so it’s a real thing that we have to deal with.

      Stay safe, Linda.

Kudos to you for getting your office/studio sorted. Your little putz sheep were good little taskmasters. Hope you’re relaxing today. I’m off to make a strawberry/rhubarb pie to take to Canada Day celebrations at a friends home. Hope the weather improves enough that we can be outdoors. Hugs, Elaine

Canada Day is tomorrow, right? I should know with my Canadian roots, but thought I’d confirm.

      Stay safe, Elaine.

I love seeing the Putz sheep. Such a cute collection. I had my Physical Therapy evaluation today and got some exercises to work on. I’ll be doing some sessions to try to help my back. My left side is higher than my right so no wonder I’m off balance. I want to clean up my craft room so much but until I can get the back pain under control it’s not happening.

I love your sheep! Well done on your project. I came north today (that’s a whole different setting deal!) but at home the Scary Room is worse than ever. I have a feeling it’s more than a one-day project. So, BRAVO!

It’s much cooler here at the lake and less hazy. I haven’t checked the AQI but I’m pretty sure it’s at a better level than what I left at home. One can hope.

I envy you your cottage on a lake! As you know, I yearn for that at this time of year. When you grow up with a cottage in the family, it becomes part of your DNA, I think. Glad it feels better there! Enjoy.

      Stay safe.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
