Another gorgeous morning. We just finished our second cup of coffee out on the porch. It’s a lazy morning here; for some reason it’s taking me a long time to wake up.
We have some deductions to finish up this morning. Yes, it’s taken us a bit longer than planned as last week became very busy with both of us working and me out of town as well. After that? Maybe some work outside, a run to the local hardware for 40 watt bulbs (we have a lot of vintage smallish lamps around here and I’ve decided they must have meetings in which they decide to ‘go out’ all at once.) Some reading, of course.
I’m reading The Girl Who Lived Twice by David Lagercrantz, the writer who took over the Millennium series when Steig Larrson passed away. He does a pretty good job of it, I must say. It’s not easy writing in the style of someone else. Of course, the first three books by Larrson will always be the best, but I have enjoyed all of the books by Lagercrantz as well. This, by the way, is the last book in the series.
We had a lovely time at Rick and Doug’s last night. Doug’s daughter was visiting from Japan. Lots of great conversation, as well as laughter. And Rick made a vegetarian dinner for us. He’s a sweetie.
I hope you’re enjoying your holiday weekend. As per usual, we tend to lay low on these three-day weekends, although I’m sure Don will be taking pictures at the Farmer’s Market tomorrow.
Happy Saturday.

The picture from your porch is simply lovely. I can see myself sitting here for hours dreaming away the day. It’s almost meditative.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you Cathy!

Oh yes, between the hanging basket of purple gorgeousness, and your limelights, I could and probably would sit there for hours.
Three day holiday weekends aren’t what they used to be for us, but I think that’s because they were centered around our boys. Now, that they are basically gone from the homestead, life is much quieter. While I miss it sometimes….I enjoy this season, too. Enjoy your day! ;)

I’m happy that it’s quieter! Plus, I just finished our deductions! Huzzah!

Now that’s worth celebrating! ;)

We woke up to 45* this morning!! It is supposed to warm up tomorrow and Monday. Crazy stuff!
Sitting on the porch sounds like a lovely thing to do. I enjoy not having a plethora of things on our plate as in years previous on these lovely 3 day weekends. Hope your day is a peaceful one.

Wow! That’s rather cold…! I, too, am happy to have a relaxing weekend, especially as I’ve finished the deductions and have sent them to our accountant.

The tax stuff is done. So glad it’s been sent off to our accountant.
Painting is not my favorite thing to do, which may explain that there is still one wall in the kitchen that has yet to be painted yellow. xo

am sure that’s a relief (taxes mailed in). i know from experience that i
hope you have a nice long weekend. t’s no fun to write them a check, but at least the task is done and you can now do something you like to do.
as for the other task, i love it and would happily paint the kitchen wall for you.

Your porch rocks. Beauty ahead of you, beauty above.
Greetings from up-north Michigan. I’m reading The Gourmand’s Way, an interesting look at six Americans (and really more) who helped make French cuisine available and acceptable, even desirable, to Americans. The chapters on Julia, Alice B. Toklas and an artist named Richard Olney are especially interesting but really the whole book is well written, fun and fascinating. I need to finish quickly — it’s Rick’s book and tomorrow afternoon I pick him up from his 400 mile bike ride (Lansing to Mackinac — Dalmac. Sound familar — it’s been going for ages.) Between that and painting, I’m having a wonderful mellow holiday!
Claudia says
Oh good! So happy you’re enjoying the weekend, Jeanie!
