Yours truly is tuckered out. But more rain is due this weekend and stuff has to be done around here. There is a deadline of sorts, so on I go!
A beautiful day yesterday until the afternoon when sprinkles came and went while I was trying to finish mowing the front lawn before the deluge. (I did.) But that thunderstorm, when it came, was huge; thunder, lightning, epic rain going every which way, slamming against the windows, flooding the gutters. And afterward, the most spectacular sunset! It was a wowzer of a couple of hours.
Today: more mulching. Planting impatiens. Starting to clear the bed behind the kitchen which is usually weed-filled. No mowing, the ground is too wet.
More narcissus, this time in the big garden bed and another batch in the woods. They were here when we moved in, thanks to a previous owner. So beautiful.
Last night in Margaritaville, Alison, the female lead, was feeling under the weather. So her understudy got to go on for the first time. Her understudy, Keely, who is part of the ensemble happens to be married in real life to Paul, the male lead. So, she got to play opposite her husband and ‘marry’ him at the end of the show. Isn’t that wonderful? Smile worthy.
I ordered Monty Don’s latest book through Book Depository and it arrived earlier this week. I haven’t had time to start it yet, but this rainy weekend looks to be a good time. I love this guy.
I’m off to make my second cup of coffee.
Happy Friday.
You have been so busy and your yard is loving it!! How sweet that husband and wife get to perform together! I’m feeling so sad today as three blog friends have lost furry loves in the last few days. We get to know each other and our pets and the loss we feel is real. Such sadness.
Yes, so sad. Jim Parsons lost his dog, Otis, yesterday as well. Sigh. We understand their pain.
I saw that and it just hurt my heart for him. Brenda Pruitt(Cozy House) lost her Abi and Deb Steckly (Just Cats) lost her Audrey. So much heartache!
So very, very sad.
I am sure you are tuckered out…you have a lot to take care of at the cottage. I’m tuckered too…trying to beat the rain yesterday. (In Wednesday’s storm we had hail!) With rain today…it gives me a good reason to be lazy today. I’ve been gardening in a very scattered way…just trying to spread the plants around and clean up as I go. I got a late start…and I’m too impatient this year to clean up the gardens first. I need to see those gardening ‘pops of color’.
Sweet story about the understudy. I bet it was a thrill for her as well as her hubby. Enjoy your day…hope the weather holds! ;)
Don said she was terrific and everyone was cheering her on, of course!
Clean up after the winter is long and tedious but must be done, I’m in the same boat as you. I also like Monty Don. Enjoy your read.
I will. When I get the gosh darned time to read it!
oh, how sweet that the understudy/ensemble cast member (keely) and male lead (paul) are married and acted together last night! am sure that was extra-special for them. hope allison feels better.
hope you can accomplish all you want today, including reading a new book!
happy weekend, too.

Alison has been with the show since the beginning and this is the first time she’s missed a show!
Thanks, Kathy.
Monty Don has a show on Netflix “Big Dreams, Small Spaces” season 1, 2016. My husband and I are enjoying watching it. You see the gardens progress during the growing season.
Yes, I’ve watched it. That’s the first show of his that I watched.
I too like MDon. Check out his episode of “who do you think you are” on utube- he is wonderful
I will. Thanks, Dianne!
Enjoy your new book when the next rains come and you can’t be outside gardening. How sweet when real life collides with life on stage…I bet Keely and Paul loved doing that show together. I love when couples act together, there’s such real chemistry. Every day, trusting loving animal friends die, and their people become adrift in sadness…I’m going to give my animals extra hugs and a long brushing session today.
Yes, enjoy your babies. I miss the company of my dogs every day.
Your flowers are lovely. Enjoy your book and have a great week end.
Marilyn
Thank you, Marilyn. You, too!
I love Monty Dom I have watched him many times on the BBC, but the BBC has wondeful programmes. He is a lovely gentlemen with a wealth of knowledge about gardens. Enjoy your book 🌺
I agree wholeheartedly, Janine. He’s a favorite. Wouldn’t you love to walk around his property?
What a sweet story of Keely and Paul…they must have been thrilled!…I don’t know anything about Monty Don…never even heard about him…I guess I will have to look him up on utube!
I spoke of him once before on the blog – yes, look him up! I know you’ll like him, Nancy.
