Husband’s Idea

September 3, 2011 at 11:11 am by Claudia

Remember the embroidered ‘Nice’ that I stitched and then tacked onto a pillow? It’s on our bed.

Knowing that Don doesn’t always notice these things, I pointed it out to him today.

He said I should embroider another one that says ‘So-So’ and attach it to the other side of the pillow. Depending on how ‘things’ (ahem) go, one side or the other can be displayed. Sort of like the signs judges used to hold up for figure skating before computers came along.

Then he said I should market and sell them.

Oh, that boy.

8 Hours in Boston

September 2, 2011 at 11:45 am by Claudia

A whirlwind of a day in Boston – Don had never been there and we had two free hours before the game,  so I took him on a walk through Beacon Hill. (I am in love with the window and door on this house.)

Don did his salute to Abbey Road.
We visited the ducks in the Public Garden.
And the swans.
Went to Fenway. Glorious. Sat in the grandstand amongst a great group of fans.
We had the best time. We ate lots of not-so-healthy food (including a cupcake that was a wee bit too rich.) Cheered for the Sox. They lost, but we don’t care. The experience of being in that almost 100 year ballpark so full of history was priceless. We had to drive home after the game and arrived back at MHC at 4 a.m. I got up at 8:30. Not enough sleep. But oh so worth it.
I have more photos to share with you. But that will have to be on another day.

Garden Art

September 1, 2011 at 12:00 am by Claudia

In the ‘if you have lemons make lemonade’ vein, the broken birdbath has become garden art. The other half will go in the garden bed on the side of the house.

Considering that the huge limb from the maple fell on all my barrels full of impatiens, they look surprisingly good:

I will figure out some artistic thing to do with the base of the birdbath. I really want to get a new birdbath because my little birdies really love taking a dip, especially the catbirds.

And here are all the branches and limbs that Don and I will have to haul up into the woods.

Looks like fun, doesn’t it? Suddenly it’s looking like autumn here with all the leaves on the ground courtesy of Hurricane Irene. This has not been a good summer for me. That’s an understatement. So, though I will miss the warm temps and shorts and the beauty of summer…I’m ready to move on.

Today, we are on our way to Boston for the Red Sox vs. Yankees game! If you remember, the tickets were my birthday present for Don.  We are so in need of a fun day away from all the stress in our lives. I’ll take lots of pictures, of course.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
