Friday – Feeling Better

October 22, 2021 at 8:22 am by Claudia

Number 3.

There are so many little buds out there and I checked the weather forecast: no frost for the next two weeks. Unfortunately, I leave on Monday, so Don has orders to take lots of photos for me.

I’m still congested but I feel so much better today. I ended up doing an at-home Covid test yesterday, simply because if, for some reason, I had it, I would have to notify everyone on the film. I was sure I didn’t have it, as I get these things once or twice a year and I always wear a mask when I am out in public – outside and inside. Nevertheless, if I was to be quarantined, better to know before I moved to Brooklyn.

It was negative.

I’ll have to take my first ‘working on the film’ official Covid PCR test next Wednesday, since we have to have them within 48 hours of our first day on the set and my first day is Friday. That is in addition to  3 or 4 quick tests every week. Each new week requires a PCR test as well as the quick tests, so I’ll be a veteran by the end of this shoot.

Today I’m going to run around getting things I need to take with me. Anything I can buy here, I’ll buy, as anything purchased in the city is more expensive.

It’s beautiful out there again today. Don has a zoom audition this afternoon. I’ve been mostly sitting on the living room sofa, blowing my nose, but today is a new day.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

The Girls

October 21, 2021 at 8:43 am by Claudia

Still feeling under the weather; in fact, I feel worse today. It’s all head congestion, nothing in the chest and none of the Covid systems. Just sinus/allergies, I think. But I don’t have a lot of energy. I had some yesterday for a brief span in the afternoon, so I vacuumed and dusted and cleaned Don’s mini studio. But now? Crappity-crap-crap.

I was going to get my driver’s license renewed today but I think I’ll do it by mail and try to get the eye test when I’m in NYC. I don’t have the energy to stand in line for a long time.

I have lists of things to do and accomplish before I go, but it increasingly looks like I’ll do it all at the last minute and have Don bring anything I forgot when he visits me the next weekend.

It will all work out.

In the meantime, I did manage to dress the girls in their new dresses yesterday:

These sweet dresses were made by a lovely woman who lives in Russia, @puppet_story on IG. (Who knew I would be conversing with so many Russians?) She made them to order and consulted with me on the fabric choices. I’d seen some of her work elsewhere and was so enchanted by her creations that I messaged her, waited until she had an opening, and finally, placed my order. I must say, her work is impeccable.

Sophie is not happy that this house is too small for her to live in.

Neither is Imogen, but she’s a bit more easy going.

In fact, they inspected every house inside the cottage and none of them were the right size.

So, they’re sitting on the piano, looking a bit miffed.

Ah well.

Stay safe.

Happy Thursday.

Congestion-Head

October 20, 2021 at 10:12 am by Claudia

The puzzle I’m taking with me to Brooklyn. Perfect, I think, as The Strand is one of my favorite bookstores. I was heartened to see that the New York Puzzle Company has some new New Yorker puzzles for this year. I was worried that I had already completed all of the puzzles I found interesting and they are my favorites to work on.

Good news for the coming winter!

I’m under the weather today. Whether it’s allergies or sinus, I’m not sure, but the sneezing continued for most of the day yesterday and I’m constantly blowing my nose. I slept about 8 hours last night – something that is a rarity these days – so that helps. I ended up taking yesterday off and I’ll do the same today so that I can get this thing out of my system sooner rather than later. Better now than when I have to be on the set!

I finished The Lantern Men  yesterday, mostly because I felt like crap and stayed in my chair reading. I have the latest Elly Griffiths arriving today. It’s in hardback, but the hardback (I admit it, I got it through Amazon) is priced the same as a paperback. And all of you fans know that she has a new one coming out next year, right? Good news!

Don is running errands this morning – I need some soft Puffs because my skin is very sensitive and blowing my nose continuously makes my nose and face red, some cough drops, some Benadryl, that kind of thing. And some sugar-free chocolates, my one and only food indulgence these days.

Okay. I’m going to rest.

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
