Saturday

February 25, 2017 at 9:19 am by Claudia

74 degrees here yesterday. Both Don and I said it was too warm. (Not to mention spooky in this time of climate change.) Tomorrow will be considerably cooler.

I watched Singing in the Rain  yesterday which never fails to make me smile. Though it was poignant, having just lost Debbie Reynolds. This morning I’m going to watch Stagecoach – one of my favorite movies. TCM viewers: is this the first time TCM has done 31 Days of Oscar with the movies airing in alphabetical order? I’m thinking it is, but I might be wrong.

We chatted with Little Z last night, who always makes me laugh. That boy is destined to direct people in some way: “Aunt Claudia, you say this. Uncle Don, you say that. No. Not Aunt Claudia, just Uncle Don. No. Not Uncle Don, just Aunt Claudia.”

I recognize this, as I was much the same when I was a kid. You go, Little Z!

Happy Saturday.

Suspiciously Warm, Alt-Jesus, An App and Day 6

February 24, 2017 at 9:31 am by Claudia

Still sick. This is endless.

I am grateful that I’m not needed at rehearsals for a while. I can concentrate on healing.

I took this yesterday afternoon. February 23rd. The temps were in the high sixties.

What the ???

Global warming.

Oh, I forgot. Global warming is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese.

I appreciated having the windows open for a while and seeing the sun come through the front door was very nice, indeed.

Having nothing to do but look at my laptop and/or read a book, I check in on Twitter fairly frequently. This is far and away my favorite photo of the week, which I retweeted:

Absolutely perfect. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Jesus would not like what is happening here. And by Jesus I mean the Jesus of the New Testament, who spoke in clear terms about what is right and what is wrong – not the Jesus who has been manipulated into something else in order to validate bigotry, misogyny, racism and Islamophobia.

The Jesus who would be denied entrance into this country because of the color of his skin and his ties to ‘suspect’ countries.

Listen. I’m tired, I’m more  than tired – I’m exhausted, I’m sick, I’m sleep deprived because of coughing jags and, above all else,  I’m sick of all these evil machinations.

This is not who we are. Nor will we allow it to be who we are. The Resistance is strong and getting stronger by the minute.

Michael Moore mentioned a terrific app the other day. It’s 5 Calls. You can download it from the App Store. Brilliantly simple. You choose the issues that are important to you. It dials your Reps or Senators or the Justice Department – wherever your voice should be heard. It gives you a script. The calls are made in no time.

Don and I downloaded it yesterday. I can’t call anyone yet because I’m coughing too much, but Don pulled off 3 calls in about 3 minutes.

I’m looking forward to the day when my Peet’s Coffee starts tasting like it should again.

Happy Friday.

Day Five

February 23, 2017 at 9:13 am by Claudia

Keeping it real.

Kleenex, cough drops, medicine. Repeat.

I’ve reached the stage where coughing keeps me awake at night. That’s what happened last night and I’m feeling exhausted today. But in other ways, I am getting better. I just need to rest and be patient.

With that in mind, I decided to opt out of going into the city today for the Meet and Greet for Anastasia. I’m sorry I’m missing it (you remember I went into the city a day ahead of time for the first scheduled Meet and Greet, which got canceled because of that snowstorm.) I seem fated to not be a part of that particular event.

Anyway, the thought of the commute, the worry about coughing jags and possibly infecting others, and my exhaustion made me decide to stay home. Darko doesn’t need me for a while so I’m going to be grateful for that and take care of myself.

I am finally able to read, which is a good thing. At least I’ve improved enough to be able concentrate on something in print. The big test today will be whether I can concentrate on the New York Times crossword puzzle.

Don leaves in three weeks. I’m starting to have an awfully hard time with that reality.

By the way, I actually saw a commercial last night plugging the FIC’s nominee for the Supreme Court. I might be wrong, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen that kind of thing before. We were dumbfounded.

Happy Thursday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
