Potpourri on Saturday

September 10, 2016 at 9:44 am by Claudia

• I woke up too early. When I came downstairs, it was still darkish. In the shadows, I thought I glimpsed something…when it got even lighter, I saw this:

9-10-three

Three morning glories!

9-10-mgraindrops

It’s raining a bit out there – we still need a whole heck of a lot more – and I grabbed the chance to capture the blooms with rain drops on them.

• I’ve been deleting photos from my photo library on this laptop for days now. I have to be ruthless about it. Before I transfer everything to the new computer, I want to clear the decks, as it were. I’ve deleted old downloads, no-longer-needed documents, bookmarks in various browsers. I take a lot of photos for my blog but what I am not good about is immediately deleting the ones I download but realize I can’t use. So I get a lot of duplicates, or photos of things that seemed important at the time, but are no longer relevant.

I keep every photo ever taken of the dogs. I won’t delete any. Last night, I saw so many photos of Scout as I scrolled through my library, that when I walked downstairs for dinner, I actually looked for her in the living room. I was expecting to see her. Oh, my girl.

• We are now watching Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries on Netflix and we’re really enjoying them. The first episode was a little less than exciting, but we now realize they were just finding their way and establishing who Miss Fisher is, etc. I’m glad we stuck with it because it’s very good, indeed.

• We spent part of the afternoon yesterday setting up Don’s new laptop. He’s so excited! You have no idea how bad the other one was. The circa 2008 colors were faded, it was terribly slow, and a while back, the connector for the ear buds broke off inside the laptop. Don took it to the Apple Store to see if they could fix it, but they couldn’t. So he had no sound. None. He listened to things on his phone, which is fine, but sometimes you need a bigger screen. He spent time yesterday watching things on YouTube and listening to his CD on the laptop (“It’s really good!” he said.)

I took a picture just now of Don with the laptop, but his morning hair is sticking up all over the place and I know he wouldn’t be pleased with it, so I’ll just show you his shiny, new MacBook Pro.

• Today may be all about the computer changeover. And reading the book I am to review on Monday. A heads up for you: I have a book review that has long been scheduled for Monday, and I just found out that a sponsored post I’ve done for BlogHer was okayed for Monday. Can’t have two posts on the same day, so the sponsored post will be up on Tuesday.

Happy Saturday.

I am so happy to see the blooms on the Morning Glory!! Gorgeous. It’s so exciting to get a new computer but work also. I am glad Don is enjoying his new one. My son in law had to get a chromebook for school this year and is very happy with it. The old old lap top we had just wouldn’t cut it for the programs he needs for class. Today Charlie would have been 18, so I’ve shed a few tears but also want to celebrate his wonderful life. Looking at old photos helps me do both. Enjoy your quiet Saturday!
    hugs!!

Oh, Linda. I know how hard that is. Charlie was such a beautiful boy. I’m sending him a hug and kiss – I know he is with you.

Thanks, Linda, for letting me paint him. His is such a sweet face! (I tried to comment on your blog yesterday, but no success, so I’m thanking you here, on Claudia’s blog.)

Such lovely flowers to wake up to!
How I long to have Miss Fisher’s house and wardrobe. Isn’t Essie Davis wonderful? I remember that she played Vermeer’s wife in “Girl with a Pearl Earring”. We watched “Love and Friendship” last night as we needed a pick me up after an exhausting week – it definitely evoked a smile or two.

We also like the Miss Fisher mysteries. I hope they are making more. It’s easy watching, especially the beautiful sets and costumes.

I’m jealous of your three-bloom morning glory day. Thought I might see three today, but only two…as many as I can hope for this year, I guess.

The morning glories are lovely, so glad for you. I feel for you about missing your girl. The pictures you shared of her always made me smile. I’m so sorry about your heartache. Learning all about Don’s new laptop should make the day interesting for you both. My hubby is working today so I’m alone again.

Love “Miss Fisher”! I would love to be in the wardrobe department and get to make the hats she wears. The clothes are gorgeous, but I don’t like construction, but I could really get my head around all those wonderful felted wool hats, feathers, sequins, and appliqués.

Morning glories…such happy flowers! Guess I’ll add Miss Fisher’s to my TBW list. It’s raining here again…and cool. Too cool for my taste…wish Mother Nature could just do things gradually, so we could get used to things! Happy computering! ;)

Quite cool here today!! A bit more rain overnight as well. And I am still getting one MG per day. Must be what I am allotted this year. And I will take it…. better than none!! Sun is out now, and should be a lovely football weather day!

Have fun on your computers today!! Good thing to do on a rainy Saturday that it appears you are enjoying!!

Yes, but I had to drive an hour to the Apple Store again to get an adaptor that I needed.

The computer looks so nice. It is hard to keep up with all the new technology! Thanks for the recommendation to watch on Netflix. Hope you have a relaxing day.

Beautiful morning glories. Don will absolutely love using his Pro. You’re such a loving wife! We’re all Miss Fisher fans in this household. We watch them on PBS, so we’re all caught up. I’ve also seen a Miss Fisher special that shows the filming of the series, including interviews with cast members. I believe it was a special filmed for PBS pledge breaks. Though Kerry Greenwood’s Miss Fisher books are entertaining, I love the adaptation much better.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
