Sleepy Monday

March 21, 2022 at 8:51 am by Claudia

I’m going on about 4 hours of sleep today. Not a happy camper. But I don’t have to be anywhere, have no commitments, and can – hopefully – catch a nap this afternoon. I’ve had far too many work days in the past where I had to try to get through the day on very little sleep. Today is sunny and lovely and looks to be the only sunny day we’ll get this week, so I’m going to do my best to take it all in.

Every year, I aim my camera out the upstairs window and record the peepers. Then I post it on Instagram. For those of you who have never heard their sound, head over to my main IG account and give it a listen.

Don just headed off to the grocery store as we’re out of food. Whoops! Bless him.

We’re due for three days of rain this week and I welcome it. Why? Well, the obvious reason is that it will help to bring back our green grass. The other reason: I don’t have to worry about rain leaking inside the screen door anymore or inside the shed. For the first time in a long time, I can relax. It’s such a good feeling.

I found Livvy in this outfit yesterday. She heard it was the first day of spring and thought this romper would be the perfect thing to wear. I gently explained to her that though it was indeed the first day of spring, temperatures here in the Hudson Valley would only reach the low fifties and that she would need more layers of clothing.

But she looked adorable, I’ll give you that.

By the way, Olivia is my only girl with a licca body, which has skinny legs and arms. At first I was going to change it out, but I find it suits her, so it’s staying. Some collectors only collect Blythes with licca bodies. (Blythe World can be quite fascinating.)

That romper is one of the first pieces of Blythe clothing I purchased last fall. It’s from House of Blythe on Instagram.

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

Our first day of Spring was beautiful here. I spent the day with my daughter and granddaughter and it was such a joy.

I did go into your i/g and listen to those marvelous peepers; definitely does sound like country living! Fascinating! I never hear anything like that in my more-urban world although I do enjoy early-morning birdsong in my neck ‘o the woods as the properties north of me are one- and two-acre properties with a lot of old-growth trees and bushes which attract the bird life. Thanks for sharing the peepers, and I hope you can get in a nap this afternoon.

When I was scrolling over on the right to find your i/g, I was looking at some of your other photos and prompts; and, gosh, the exterior of your cottage is so delightful, just like the inside; you really did find the perfect place to live for what’s meaningful to you — with garden, landscape, four seasons, history, etc. (although I know you wish you had a fireplace!). Anyway, it’s all just so pretty and magical. (And you have peepers!) I’m happy for you and Don. And when you’re at a place in time with a home where you don’t have TOO much to worry about it (nothing nagging at your brain of so many ‘to-do’s’), you can (as you say) really relax and let it blissfully cloak you in comfort, gratitude, safety, beauty and all that you enjoy. A gift!

I don’t know if we’ll ever get to a time when we don’t have some sort of repair hanging over our heads, but wouldn’t that be nice?

        Stay safe.

dear Claudia/Don–spring is here today, too, w/bright sun, clear skies–soaking it up!! BUT rain forecast for most of the rest of week BUT we need it–burn bans all over the state. our birds have enjoyed the sun–singing loudly this a.m. — think there was contest between robins/cardinals for who could sing loudest–to me it was a tie. haha!! really like Livvy’s outfit. hope you all stay safe/healthy

It’s sunny here but very windy, which is annoying.

      Thanks so much, Linda.

      Stay safe.

It sounds like a great day to do just what you’re doing. Livvy is so darned cute.

It’s a lay-low day for me today. The grands were active yesterday and I overplayed more than my healing leg liked. So, today taking it slowly. Enjoy.

Yes, my back is kicking up again – so I’m taking it easy, too.

We have a beautiful day here, as well. It is 71* as I type this!!! We, too, are supposed to have rain the next 3 days. We are so far behind on precipitation, it truly will be a blessing if it happens. And watching the grass green up is one of my most favorite things in the world!!

We had the wee one here today as we do every Monday. It is her 2nd birthday!! We celebrated the big day with fam on Saturday, so a quiet day here, today. I think this will be the last “unassuming” birthday for her, because I believe once they are 3 it truly kicks in for them as to what it is all about. She and Grampa went to story time at the library this morning. A fun story about two birds and then two songs to sing is what I heard about. Love the woderful Public Libraries!!!!!

Hope you were able to get some rest today. I am still waiting for my name to come up for Lincoln Highway. My daughter finished it last week and said it was amazing. Can’t wait. Take care.

      Stay safe, Chris.

Always love it when you give us a little look into your charming cottage. As someone who shares your feelings about A Gentleman in Moscow,I was hesitant about starting The Lincoln Highway, thinking it might not quite make the grade, but it sure did.I loved it ! Enjoy the coming of Spring.xo

I listened to your peepers….sweet sounds! The temp here got to 73 according to our thermostat…and there will be rain here too, the next few days. But I’m not complaining….we really need it.

I visited with old friends this afternoon….the perfect activity for a lazy Monday. Hope you get a better night’s sleep tonight! ;)

glad you have the peeper serenade to enjoy. i’ve been seeing and hearing more birds around here lately. :)

I don’t read two novels at the same time. The Mary Oliver book is full of poems and short observations, so I pick it up and read a bit of it most every day.

      Stay safe, Kathy.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
