Sunsets and Video Attempts

January 17, 2025 at 9:03 am by Claudia

Last night’s sunset.

We had a bit of snow yesterday – not much – but it’s still on the ground this morning. Of course, the temperature is very cold, so of course it would stick. I’ve been reading of a potential winter storm headed our way Monday into Tuesday and, as I said before, we are headed for temperatures in the single digits next week.

Oh, what fun. Actually, the storm might be cool, but doing any sort of shoveling or snow blowing might be problematic if the temperatures are dangerously cold. I’m saying a little prayer that whatever happens, everyone stays safe.

My heavens, I spent way too much time yesterday trying to do a video tour of the office/studio. First of all, I talk too much. The videos were too long. In one, I cursed, so I had to toss it. I know you can edit those things out, but I’m new to this, and that kind of thing is above my pay grade. In another, I accidentally showed all the extra crap (Etsy boxes, paper towels) that I had removed from the room. Then I didn’t like way I filmed it. And on and on.

I finally filmed the tour without narrating it. Then I added my own voiceover. It came out better, but I want to do another one in landscape mode (horizontal) because when I use the portrait mode (vertical) on my phone, YouTube cuts off part of the top of the video. So annoying! Other than that, I like the way the video and my voiceover worked, so I think I’ll show that to you today. And later today, I’ll shoot it again, but in landscape mode. If I don’t end up throwing my phone across the room and it works, I’ll include it in tomorrow’s post.

Tour of the Tiny Studio/Office

Even though I’m complaining, it’s kind of fun. I just had to let the pace of the video edit the length of my narration, which is a far better way to do it, as I’m a talker (see my ‘solitary’ message in the sidebar!)

I figure you’re accompanying me on this new phase, so I can share my growing pains with you.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

Thank you for the tour! What a cozy and inviting place. I could plop myself down in that overstuffed chair and read or just get the creative juices flowing. Every inch of space has something interesting. Eye candy. I think I have always had a craving for cottage and cabbage roses. The one item we share is the Ikea trolley. I use mine for my paints and pencils. I can appreciate all your treasures and understand a little more about you now Claudia. Thank you again for sharing.

You have a rich and soothing voice.

Preparing for snow also…..stuck at home with a rotten head cold…..but you made my morning brighter,

    Maria

I really enjoyed the tour and am amazed how much you have in that space. It is rather cozy, in the best way. I love the wooden furniture with some history behind them.

I have a similar cart but it has four tiers. I think it was from Costco? Anyway, I mildly hacked it by adding peg boards on both sides and hanging cups and other accessories, all from IKEA. Like you, I have multiple hobbies and interests and lots and lots of tools for them.

I loved the video. Thanks for sharing! Such a warm, comfortable room. We have an overstuffed chair almost identical to yours. Ours has an ottoman with it. We got it at a resale shop many years ago. It really needs to be recovered, but that is going to have to wait because I imagine it will be pricey. I also share the Ikea trolley. Mine has plant care products. You have a lovely, soothing voice.

Just watched the video. Loved it! I like the way you narrated it. Very
organized for a lot of treasures. Is your bed in that room or is this a second
bedroom? Can’t wait to see more. Would love to see coming down from upstairs looking down to the first level. Keep warm!

There’s no way I would sleep in the same room as the studio! Too much clutter. This is the second bedroom.

      Thanks so much, Deb.

I really enjoyed the video tour of your studio, Claudia. It was fun to see where your creativity is born. I know what you mean about finding motivation to tackle a project. Hope you don’t get too bad a storm. This winter is proving more snowy than last winter. We’re supposed to get snow and freezing rain tomorrow. Hope they are wrong. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs, Elaine

Loved the tour! I always enjoyed you sharing/showing your various collections and treasures. Doesn’t seem like you’ve shown us around your kitchen/dining area in quite some time. If you continue doing videos I’d enjoy a tour of that (please🙂).

Thank you for the tour. I liked the vintage lamp on Don’s desk. My late husband collected cholla wood every time he went out in the desert. Every planter around the house has pieces of it laying on the ground. It’s not as pretty as your lamp the Arizona weather takes a toll on the wood. You take full advantage of the space your home provides. Loved the tour. Be safe with the colder weather coming your way. Our high is around 66° and the low in the 40s.

I love the tall ship. It’s so majestic looking! We are looking at possible more snow next week and I’m excited. We never get snow so to have two in one year is delightful! No shoveling for us, just sitting back and enjoying. Thanks for the tour!

Your excellent tour just made my day perfect! It’s so fun to see what goodies you and Don have in your shared space. Creativity feeds the soul.

Stay safe and warm. We are still waiting for winter here on the east side of the Sierra. Alas! barely any snow and continued clear skies. Maybe February or March will bring some wintery snows.

Happy MLK day to all! I’m celebrating with donations to PBS, NPR, ACLU and the FoodBank.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
