34.
That’s all I need to say.
I never watch television during the day, but lately, during the trial, I’ve occasionally tuned into Nicolle Wallace around 4 pm. So I happened to be watching as they got the news that the verdict was in. I called to Don to “get in here!”
Justice served.
Thank you to DA Alvin Bragg, the magnificent prosecutorial team, and the jury.
Wild phlox alongside the path into the woods.
Hey, I mowed the other day! Whoo hoo! My hand was a bit sore afterward, so I took the day off yesterday. I wrapped it in an ace bandage while mowing and was very careful. Since Don’s shoulder is acting up, it was time for me to get back in the mowing game. It was just what I needed, it pulled me out of my worried state of mind and that’s a good thing. More on tap for today.
We’re holding off on the car until we’re emotionally and financially ready to deal with it. We need a little break from worry. Don has two gigs this weekend but they’re relatively close to us, so he’ll use my car.
Outside the kitchen window. You can see the rear of the dollhouse. These wild beauties won’t last much longer, so I’m taking as many photos of them as I can.
But now, the wild roses are blooming, so there are white blossoms everywhere. And that means the catalpa is not far behind.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

dear Claudia/Don — sorry your hand still has trouble, maybe rest it more??? one thing to say re May 30: could you hear Mr/me cheering loudly??? was worried one of the 12 would be the ‘rotten’ apple BUT so glad did not happen — will it matter?? see it as doubtful, especially here in this DEEP red area — sigh. hope your weekend is a pleasant one. stay safe/healthy
Claudia says
I rest my hand most of the time, Linda. But I do have use it!
Thanks so much.
Stay safe.
Ellen D. says
The jury did their job well and I appreciate their courage.
Hope your problems work themselves out without costing too much. And you and Don heal up quickly.
You have such a lovely oasis there to help calm your worries.
Stay safe, Claudia.
Claudia says
Big courage from the jury and the prosecutors and judge. Grateful.
Thanks, Ellen.
Stay safe.
Barrie says
He’s guilty, but unbelievable that he could still be our next president. Six more months of waiting. I hope your hand and Don’s shoulder are feeling better soon…. take care.
Claudia says
It will definitely be a stressful 6 months.
Stay safe, Barrie.

i was expecting a “hung jury” at the very least and worrying about a 100% acquittal, but they didn’t happen (wow). i guess we will need to deal with appeals dragging on and on, and the fact that a convicted felon can still become president of our country, but at least decisions were made and we all go on. hopefully forward.
read your last couple of posts. sorry your days have any trouble, let alone several. hopefully the poison ivy is gone and your hand and don’s shoulder get all better soon. and that the car troubles and money troubles end. lots to deal with all at once … ugh. praying for you two and everyone else. and glad that don has a couple more gigs and you are doing things you enjoy.
i very much like and agree with the suggestion made by elaine on wednesday that maybe people could offer support towards mhc blog fees. perhaps something like patreon? i would be very happy to do that, claudia, as a way to say “thanks” for all you’ve shared here, the interesting things i’ve learned, friendships gained and support received (thanks for all).
had a couple of long and very hard days here, but some tough things are done and hopefully the other stuff is manageable and balanced by happier, easier times. oh, life, huh?!?
hope you, don and everyone else have a good and easy day. and weather as pretty as it is here. stay safe!

thanks, claudia, very much.
had a painful exam two days in a row (follow-up was to get a second opinion by a specialist; things are okay now). dealing with some health changes for some of my most-favorite-forever people. that is the hardest part … seeing those you love have any kind of trouble. prayers being said, other steps taken. prayers appreciated for them. thank you.
and thanks for checking in, the wish. xo

Now if only we lived in a country where a convicted criminal couldn’t run for president!! But I’ll take this great victory for now.
Claudia, how did you hurt your hand. I somehow missed that. A while back, I went back to search, but couldn’t find out how you did it. I was pulled over by a dog several years ago and had a spiral fracture that required surgery. I couldn’t use my left hand for 9 months as the nerves were deadened. I’m right-handed, but I found it amazing how much one uses one’s non-dominant hand! I really missed the use of it. I hope your hand is better very soon.
Claudia says
I fell.
It’s much better, but that doesn’t mean it is completely healed.
Stay safe. Jenny.

I’m cheering too!
Enjoy your weekend.
Claudia says
Thank you, Wendy!

I too was watching it live on Nicolle Wallace’s show. I thought they’d find him guilty, but he’s gotten away with this behavior his whole life, so I was almost afraid to hope. Guilty guilty guilty x 34! At last, some accountability. The judge, the jury, and the prosecution team are all heroes in my book. I hope they remain safe.
Claudia says
Completely agree. They are brave heroes. Now, they need to be protected.
Thanks, Di.
Stay safe.
Elaine in Toronto says
It’s interesting that in some states a convicted felon cannot vote but a convicted felon can run for president. But as long as tRump is appealing his conviction he will be able to vote. I realize being a Canadian it’s not my circus, not my monkeys but I was thrilled to hear the verdict. First small step in making America great again. Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
He can’t appeal until after sentencing, but that’s in July. I am so friggin sick of this disgusting being.
Stay safe, Elaine.

I love Nicolle Wallace — she’s smart and she’s warm. Her interviews are always spot on. It’s like talking with your smart friend.
Makes sense, delaying on the car. That’s such a huge purchase. You’ll know when it becomes time to do it.
Claudia says
We’re not buying a car. We have to repair it. But it might be an expensive repair, so we’re holding off.
Frankly, we can’t afford a new car!
Stay safe, Jeanie.
