I ran out in the rain and cut some phlox. With all the dire predictions on the weather channel, there is no way they will survive the rain and wind. The scent is heavenly.
Note new flashlight on the left. I had to run to the market this morning (long line) and get gas (another long line.) Don’s working. We’re waiting. I finally had to turn off the weather reports. If I hear something enough I accept that it’s going to happen, i.e., trees falling. So I’m watching Hot in Cleveland on TV Land. Have you seen it? A rare thing: a funny sitcom with truly talented and skilled actresses.
I’m going to roast some vegetables. And eat a piece of the strawberry rhubarb pie we decided we absolutely needed during this storm.
Stay safe.
Stay safe my friend!! I’m waiting too, with flashlights & candles. Hope it comes & goes fast with minimal problems!
Enjoy Hot in Cleveland!
I’m amazed you were able to find a flashlight … all were sold out in our nearby stores, even Lowes and Home Depot. Ended up getting a headlamp at REI!
Been raining since noon … should get the most around midnight ….
So pretty, the phlox, Claudia.
Thinking of you all from here!
xoxo
Claudia,
Right with you. The wind picks up and then dies down. Waiting. …..
Be safe.
Carol
Stay dry. Looks like you’ll be clobbered with rain.
Is that a McCoy bowl? That’s a great pattern. Really covet that.
Hi Claudia,
Stay safe! We’ve stocked up on needed items, pulled in the outdoor furniture and now we wait. I finally stopped watching the news too-we’ll see when it gets here. Just hope more trees don’t fall tomorrow! Take care.
Pretty flowers!

Claudia, it sounds like you are really prepaired for the storm with the things that are important! A new flashlight and strawberry rubarb pie!The pie is essential! Stay safe!
waiting here, too, and hoping that miss irene will be an inconsiderate visitor and simply not show up at all — leaving us with a stockpiled pantry, a lot of bottled water, and some cupcakes that i baked.
be well & safe!

Hang in there. We have been watching your weather from here on a beautiful day in Chicago, for once. But, my brother is near Princeton in NJ, so we will stay tuned. Hope your don’t get it too bad. Keep us posted. Love the Mason Jar as a vase.
Be safe. Your pie sounds so wonderful. It is good comfort food in the midst of such an awful storm. My prayers are with you. Please be safe my friend. Anne
Having waited for a few cyclones to hit when we were living in Darwin (fortunately the eye of the storm skipped off down the coast taking the worst of the devastation away from the most populated areas) I know how you’re feeling. I must say I never thought of making strawberry pie to take my mind off it :) Hoping for a safe outcome for all. Let us know when you can.
Prayers with you!
Dawn
Saying prayers for your safety! Twyla

Wow, rhubarb pie and cupcakes– you and Elyse really know how to prepare!!
Your phlox is so beautiful. One must have a bit of sunshine in a storm, eh? Bloggers sure know how to weather a storm with beauty, grace, and yummy treats!
My thoughts and prayers will be with all of you.xox
Hugs,
Jill
Ps: That bowl is so beautiful!
Anything with Betty White is fantastic! She amazes me! Hope you didn’t get hit too badly with the storm Claudia. Ann
Hi Claudia,
I hope you, Don and the doggies stay very safe in the storm. Love the flowers! I have to mention the bowl…My grandmother had a bowl like this. I have a bowl that looks very similar. I will have to look at the name on the bottom of mine and let you know. I think it is the very same one. Hope all who weather the storm are held safe in God’s arms… Love ya, Kim
We came through unscathed thank goodness but there’s lots of clean up awaiting us in the garden this morning! The sun is out, wind and rain gone, and we are getting up to low 90’s again later!
My thoughts are with you all in the northeast today – will be keeping fingers crossed you are safe and do not have property damage.
Love and hugs – Mary
I’ve been thinking about you Claudia and praying that all is well.
Gosh darn it girl, did you have to mention pie???
sending a big hugs your way…
There is something about a hurricane with so much advance notice you are put on alert, high alert. That can be so mentally draining you have to resort to something sweet. Praying that your family and home are OK.
Came over from Stuff and Nonsense, drop by for a visit.
