Gosh, it was a gorgeous day yesterday! A high of 70, sunny all day long, beautiful light hitting the orange-yellow leaves on the trees – just beautiful. Though our maples are fast losing their leaves – they’ll be bare within the next week.
Today, though not quite as warm, looks to be just as beautiful.
We’re headed to Rhinebeck today. Don needs a new book to read, so we’re going to Oblong Books. We’re going to try to walk around the town a little, as well. I’ll take some pictures for you. Rhinebeck is a lovely town and I think it’s at its best in the Fall.
I have lots to do in the next few days before we leave for our trip on Sunday. I haven’t revealed the destination yet, but I will. Where do you think we’re going? If you’ve got an idea, please leave your guesses in the comments.
I know this is short, but I have to get going!
Happy Tuesday.
Nora in CT says
California? Or Florida to see Little Z? Wherever it is, hope you have a lovely, relaxed, rejuvenating time. XO
Claudia says
No and no. But good guesses! Thank you, Nora.
Shanna says
I seem to recall that you were wanting to go back to Michigan—is that it? Have a good trip to wherever it will be!
Leaves are falling around here, too. We haven’t stayed around the lake this late into the season for quite a few years and it’s surprising how soon the beautiful fall colors devolve into a not-so-pretty winter.
After you and many of your readers have sung the praises of Deborah Crombie books, I have ordered the first three, thinking that they might be like Louise Penny’s and should be read in order. But for now, no reading. Only winterizing and packing up.
Claudia says
Glad you’re enjoying a little extra time in NY. Yes, those books are best read in order because they track the relationship between the two protagonists. Enjoy! No to Michigan.
Donnamae says
Where are you going? Michigan? To retrieve a trunk, or something? That sticks in my mind for some reason. I’ll come back and check to see the other guesses…lol. Have fun in Rhinebeck….I’m sure you’ll have a lovely time! ;)
I’m curious…why did you delete the ‘response box’ before we hit comment? (I kinda miss that.)
Claudia says
Because I was having trouble with the plugin. I wrote about it a couple of times and asked everyone to check back in later in the day for my response.
When I feel comfortable with it again, I’ll reinstate it.
No to Michigan.
Donnamae says
Ok..thanks! ;)
Claudia says
xo
Trina says
Maybe Canada or Vermont or Boston
. Have Deborah Crombie on hold. Looking forward to reading it.
Claudia says
All places I’ve spent a lot of time in and not part of our trip. You’ll find out today, Trina.
Tana says
Paris!
Claudia says
Yes!
Dee Dee says
Ooh I love a guessing game! I remember you said a mystery trip a short while ago so that would maybe suggest somewhere you haven’t been before. The trouble is I don’t know where!
I was thinking of New England before Trina posted but I am going to say somewhere on the coast rather than inland. My other guess would be Long Island.
(In reality these are some of the places I would like to visit, should I ever be fortunate enough to get to the U.S 😀)
Happy Tuesday
Claudia says
No to New England, as I used to live there and we’ve both spent a lot of time there. Long Island doesn’t really hold any appeal.
You’ll see the answer on today’s post!
kaye says
I hope Paris…
Claudia says
And you’re right!
Cara says
Montreal?
Claudia says
No, but it’s on our list of places we’d like to visit.
Chy says
Canada!!
X Chy
Claudia says
No. We’ve spent a lot of time in Canada, though I do want to go to your neck of the woods someday!
Brenda says
I don’t even have a guess! Leaf peepers trip?
Claudia says
No, we don’t need to go on a leaf peeper trip – we live in Leaf-Peeping Central!
Robin says
I would say like many others you are going to Paris!
Claudia says
You got it, Robin!
Lisa says
New York?
Claudia says
We’re in New York all the time, Lisa. When we work, we tend to work there. We only live an hour and a half away from NYC.
jeanie says
I hope you’re going to England and that lovely Sandoe shop! Since Michigan is ruled out (you must let me know if you come to Michigan — I’d love to travel to wherever you are to meet!) I’m also guessing (judging from the previous income tax owing post) that it’s probably not abroad. Unless maybe Canada. I’ll throw my hat into the ring with Quebec City, since Vieux Quebec is the closest thing to Paris or at least France on this continent, the exchange rate is good, one can drive (a long drive, but do-able) and it’s just the coolest city on the continent!
Claudia says
You can read today’s post for an explanation of our decision – we’re going to Paris. Thanks, Jeanie.
Chris K in Wisconsin says
I, too, was thinking Canada. Although I remember you talked about a few places on your cross-country drive a couple of years ago that you missed. Wherever it is, I hope you have a wondrous time!!
Looking forward to the pictures tomorrow.
Claudia says
I’ve spent a lot of time in Canada over the years as I have family there and strong family roots. We’re not going there this trip.
Marilyn says
Enjoy your trip to Rhinebeck. Looking forward to photos of Rhinebeck. I say New Hampshire.
Marilyn
Claudia says
No to New Hampshire, Marilyn.
Carol Dunlap says
Martha’s Vineyard?
Claudia says
No, Carol.
linda wilson says
Yes Martha’s vineyard
Beautiful in the fall
Our favorite !
Claudia says
No. Nothing in New England, Linda.
Carol says
Is this the week of the Philadelphia miniature show? I live in the suburbs of Philly!
Claudia says
It’s not until the first weekend in November, Carol. (I loved living in Philadelphia! I went to grad school at Temple.)
Cindi Brumpton says
Paris I am betting.
Claudia says
Bingo!
kathy in iowa says
some of my guesses have already been stated … michigan, florida, california. i am hoping that you and don can take an even bigger trip … back to paris and london!
wherever you go, i hope you have a wonderful time and safe travels!
kathy in iowa
Claudia says
It is a bigger trip – to Paris! Thanks Kathy!
Kay Nickel says
I am hoping it is Paris. My second guess was Florida but you already said no to that. Best of luck getting ready.
Claudia says
You’re right, Kay! xoxo
