A Visitor

February 12, 2018 at 10:20 am by Claudia

Well, this guy is paying a visit. I’m sure glad to have him here. He arrived at the bus station in the middle of a downpour, which wasn’t difficult given that it had been raining for over 12 hours. We parked in the driveway because all of the rain and melting has resulted in yet another blob of ice where I usually park. As it’s going to be warmer for a good chunk of this week, I’m hoping the damn thing melts, and soon. I’m over it.

At least Don could see what I’m wrestling with here. A visual never hurts, right?

We’ve had a lovely time so far. He needs to kick back and relax after a long, hard, and physically taxing week.

I happened to see a recipe for vegan chocolate chip cookies on Instagram last week and I saved it because it looked easy and Don is predominately vegan lately. So I gave it a whirl yesterday. None of it looked like the video that accompanied the recipe, so I had doubts as to whether they would turn out. But they did.

They definitely have a different texture. They’re chewier. The vegan chips taste just like regular chocolate chips. Don loves them, so they get a big thumbs up. And that means I’ll have to make some to take with me the next time I go to NYC. I’m already anticipating that request. I know my husband!

We watched the Olympics last night and we’re going to hang out today. He’ll go back to the city tomorrow morning. Too short, but we’re grateful for some time together at our cottage.

Happy Monday.

Two Days

February 11, 2018 at 8:52 am by Claudia

It’s been raining since yesterday and the rain, coupled with snow and ice on the ground, makes for an unattractive landscape. And another icy patch in the parking area, which means I’ll have to salt again. Spring, please come soon. Please.

Provided I can get my car out of here (see above) I’ll pick Don up at the bus station later this morning. He’ll be home for two, or nearly two, days. He’s homesick, and though he loves the NYC apartment, sometimes you just need to be home. Two days off in a row almost never happens in the theater and they have been working 10 hour days for four days in a row. They’re tired.

I can’t wait to see that guy.

More babies. If this is supposed to be the season where houseplants grow dormant, I’m not seeing any evidence of it.

I hope everyone has a lovely day today. I’m making this short because I have to get a move on!

Happy Sunday.

This Saturday

February 10, 2018 at 9:23 am by Claudia

Despite my best efforts, I never figured out which smoke alarm was the culprit. I examined each one of them as best I could, but I couldn’t investigate further because I never heard the chirp again. Not during the day. Not last night.

I’m grateful, but it does remain a mystery.

I recycled yesterday, which is always a pain in the tush, but even more so in the winter. But it’s worth it, because I love an freshly emptied trash can and empty recycling bins. We had snow showers all day long with no accumulation predicted. However, the snow picked up in the afternoon and I’d guess there’s an additional half inch on the ground now.

Dear Stella, heating up water for my morning coffee. She’s the best.

Did you watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympics? I did. It was beautifully done – visually stunning. They always are. I’m ready to lose myself in some Olympic competition, to escape into something positive and uplifting. We all need that right now.

Today, my exciting agenda is to clean the bathrooms, something I said I’d do earlier in the week but never got around to. If you’ve read this blog for any length of time, you know I absolutely detest cleaning the bathroom, so you can imagine how excited I am at the prospect.

Less than a week until the first preview performance of Escape to Margaritaville. And that means less than a week until the Original Broadway Cast Recording comes out! I’ve preordered mine. Can’t wait!

Happy Saturday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
