Eggs on my mind

March 30, 2009 at 12:37 pm by Claudia

Spring is here and my mind keeps going to ‘eggs’ – especially the blue of a bird egg. I found this image courtesy of The Graphics Fairy. She has a wonderful site filled with clip art. I made a copy of it on heavier weight paper and put it in a frame from Ikea. I just love it and it was very inexpensive, too! The tiny eggs came from Vignettes.

I’ve been wrestling with lower back pain lately. The furniture in this apartment is all donated to the theater. As I’ve posted before, none of it is great for my back. Lately, even my best efforts (boards, lumbar pillows) haven’t been helping. In desperation, I went to Ikea yesterday to contemplate buying a proper chair. I have about 3 more months here and don’t see how I can function with chronic pain. I wandered around contemplating my choices. Do I just buy a chair, put it together, knowing that I can’t transport it home? The one I had my eye on came in a more bulky package than I had hoped; not easily repacked and sent home. (The idea of renting a van seems better and better.) In the end, I went with this $39.00 wicker chair, thinking at least it has back support. We’ll give it a try ~ hopefully it will do the trick and I won’t have to spend more money on another chair. I hadn’t been in Ikea for a long while, though why I picked a Sunday I don’t know. It was absolutely jammed with people.

More eggs – I love the pastel of these eggs from Michael’s nestled among my fabric eggs and the new Somerset Life. It is absolutely beautiful! Check out the story inside on La Maison Rustique. By the way, I had a comment from Mary asking more about the sale. Mary, just click the link and all your questions should be answered.

I’m going home for a visit on Saturday! I can’t wait to see my husband, my dogs, my sweet little cottage and work in the garden. (Another reason why I have to get my back in order.) I have Don checking out the yard for signs of life. He assures me that my lilac bush planted last summer has made it through the winter and has little buds on it. Wonderful!

Have a great day.

Pink Saturday

March 28, 2009 at 1:01 am by Claudia

It is time for our favorite day, Pink Saturday! Beverly of How Sweet the Sound hosts this weekly event. Be sure to stop by her blog and visit all the participants.

I have two things to share with you that I bought at last Saturday’s Barn Sale at La Maison Rustique. First up:

An incredibly cute Scottie made from pink chenille! I saw this little guy and I had to have him. (I’ve decided he’s a boy even though he is pink. And why not?) The chenille is vintage and the bow is a soft green. What do you think I should name him? He currently lives on the bed, tucked up against the robin’s egg blue pillow shams.

Next we have a little pretty for me to wear…I was about to pay for my purchases when I spied this in a glass case at the register. I soon tried it on and that was that.

I love this necklace! It is so beautiful ~ I can’t wait to wear it!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Pink Saturday and an equally wonderful weekend!

Foggy morning

March 27, 2009 at 11:35 am by Claudia

This morning’s sky was foggy, filled with swirling clouds and the sunlight trying to break through. I ran out onto the balcony to grab a few shots, knowing that it could all be gone in the blink of an eye. And it was. The sun has emerged and taken over the sky. Another sunny San Diego day.
Believe me, I love the sun, but I do like it here in San Diego when the weather is a bit grumpy – whether its fog or rain or whatever. Back when we lived here I would get so excited if there was a thunderstorm. It happened rarely. I remember my husband and I running outside to listen to the thunder. Oh, and then there is the even rarer instance when it suddenly hails. You’re driving along and suddenly for about 2 minutes, huge amounts of hail fall…and then its sunny. This morning’s foggy beginning was beautiful.

I promised I would post the link for the fabric Easter Eggs. I found it at Retro Mama. She is very talented and she posts all the directions, plus the pattern for the egg. Just scroll down and you will find it. I found out about Retro Mama from another great source, Today’s Creative Blog. Kim posts about various blogs she has discovered. It is a great source for those of us who don’t always know what’s out there. I have found a lot of wonderful blogs through Kim.

I must leave you now and do the laundry before I have class. Have a great day everyone!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
