Birthday Boy

June 24, 2022 at 8:10 am by Claudia

Happy Birthday to this dear, dear man.

The best man I’ve ever known, always growing, always working on himself, true blue friend to many, kind, compassionate, loving, hilarious, talented, GOOD.

Just plain good.

It goes without saying that he has made my life richer than I ever thought it could be. I don’t know what I did to deserve him but I am ever and always grateful for his presence in my life.

We’re coming up on 28 years together. Sometimes I wish we’d met sooner, but then I realize that we weren’t ready for each other until that moment of that day.

He doesn’t want anything special today, though of course he’ll open some presents and I’ll sing Happy Birthday to him. I think he just wants to hang out here in our little cottage.

Whatever you want, my love. Whatever you want.

It’s also Little Z’s 11th birthday!

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

Maeve

June 23, 2022 at 8:37 am by Claudia

Sometimes when I’m feeling a little blue, or am housebound on a gray day (like yesterday), I grab one of the girls and then I look through the Blythe clothes and dress her in something fresh. Then I take some pictures.

Every time I do this, my mood lifts. An added bonus; I get reacquainted with that particular girl.

Case in point: Maeve.

I had fun with the lack of light yesterday. She looks rather film noir-ish, doesn’t she?

Let’s go with that:

Oooh!

And my personal favorite:

I trimmed her eyelashes yesterday. They were too long. I also trimmed her bangs a bit. I have a bit of a struggle with her hair due to the fact that the customizer had placed a protective film over part of her head and face (many customizers do this.) Normally, that wouldn’t be a problem but she took forever to get here, over two months, so the hair near the top of her head is not quite fluffy enough and it has a slight crease. I’m not sure how to fix it – curlers?

I usually end up fluffing it out right before I take a picture.

She’s awfully pretty. Periodically, I consider selling one of the dolls. I’ve thought about that with Maeve. But when I pick that doll up and spend some time dressing and photographing her, I just can’t. For now, I can’t let any of the girls go.

It’s rainy again today, but tomorrow (someone’s birthday) should be much nicer. I have to run out this morning to buy a few birthday-related things and I must get a move on as I want to be back for the hearing at 1 pm. (Just read conflicting info – I think it is at 3 pm EST now.)

If you haven’t heard, the Committee is NOT going to hold hearings next week because they’ve received a deluge of tips and videos that they need to go through. So they’ll be back with more hearings in July.

Stay safe.

Happy Thursday.

The Hearings

June 22, 2022 at 8:46 am by Claudia

I’m going to keep this short today as I don’t really have much to share except my rage at what was done to Shaye Moss and her mother, Ruby Freeman, by Rudy Giuliani and Trump. These good and patriotic Americans were slandered by the man who should have been protecting them. It’s mob behavior, of course, because Trump is first and foremost a thug with a lifetime of ties to the Mob. His mentor was Roy Cohn, for heaven’s sake.

These two women were subject to slanderous accusations and death threats, simply because they did their jobs. Because Trump/Giuliani concocted a bogus scenario and were happy to throw them under the bus. And the Republicans who testified were also subject to death threats.

Yesterday’s hearing was riveting. All of the hearings have been riveting.

Added to this, the news that armed police stood in that school in Uvalde and waited to get a door unlocked that was never locked while children and teachers were slaughtered. The powers-that-be are attempting a cover-up. But it’s not working. Innocent lives lost because the police did nothing.

It’s too much, isn’t it?

So that’s what yesterday was about: the hearings.

In the meantime, I finished the Mick Herron book, Real Tigers, and am about to start another Herron – Spook Street. I love his writing which is nothing short of superb.

An off-and-on rainy day today and tomorrow.

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
