Over and Done With It

March 20, 2018 at 10:24 am by Claudia

Hi everyone. I’m really under the weather and just can’t concentrate enough to write a post. Also, tomorrow we’re going to be hit by our 4th nor’easter in three weeks. I am so over all of this and I sure as heck can’t shovel.

Think of any cuss word and I can guarantee you I’ve said it in the last 24 hours.

Anyway, I have to force myself to go out and run some errands because I don’t know when I’ll be able to get out again. The predictions about this storm are all over the place so I have no idea how much heavy, wet snow will fall.

I’m over it.

If you don’t see a post tomorrow or the next day, it will simply be because I want to rest.

Happy Tuesday.

Crappity

March 19, 2018 at 9:45 am by Claudia

Still feeling crappy. Head congestion and chest congestion. But I’ve been sleeping a lot and, after my sleep-deprived week, it’s most welcome. I made it out to the grocery store yesterday where I promptly ran into someone I knew and had to refrain from hugging him. I kept a distance of about 4 feet between us, which, I’m sure, he appreciated.

Don has a day off and he just told me he might go to the Museum of Natural History. Sounds like a good plan. The added bonus is that it’s close to Central Park, so he can go there as well on this sunny day. (Three in a row!)

I never know the answer to this question. When is Easter? Looking at my little bunny egg cozies brought that to mind this morning. Gosh, I love these two. Mother and son, always holding hands – now, isn’t that sweet?

Not much on my agenda today, of course, as I’m housebound. I’m just going to take it easy.

I’ve been hearing the call of our mourning doves since I got up at 6:30. Heavenly music to yours truly.

Happy Monday.

Home. And It’s Sunny!

March 18, 2018 at 10:32 am by Claudia

Had a little glitch with the blog this morning and, I guess, last night, though I didn’t see it. When I tried to get on this morning, my browser said my ‘certificate had expired.’ Very frustrating. But my host fixed it, so if you saw a warning that my site wasn’t safe, it is, and it was. Certificates renew every few months and this one was lagging a bit, according to the tech. He pushed it through. Just a technical glitch. All is safe here at Mockingbird Hill Cottage.

But since I’m not feeling well this morning, it was energy I didn’t need to expend.

Yes, I’ve got some sort of congestion, cough crap thing. Not feeling at all well. Sigh.

Despite that, I arrived home yesterday to a sunny day and almost all the snow melted. That put a smile on my face. Even though I don’t read reviews, I would have bet a hundred dollars the NY Times wouldn’t like the show and they didn’t. It doesn’t fit into their ‘model’ and, let’s face it, the reviewers there can be snobby. It’s not like anything else on Broadway, therefore, they don’t know what to do with it.

I’ll say it again. If you like Jimmy Buffett, you will love this show. If you want something traditional, you probably won’t.

I’m just praying that the show has a healthy run despite the Times. Send some positive energy our way!

Enough about those people. That is exactly why I don’t read reviews (and I didn’t read this one) because it’s one person’s opinion and if that person doesn’t get it, then it’s slanted, and people can be influenced by that. I like to make up my own mind. Frankly, I’ve long thought that reviews should be outlawed. One person’s opinion is not necessary my opinion. Or yours. Nor should that reviewer have any influence whatsoever. If I had a dollar for every time I’ve loved something on television or film or theater that a reviewer didn’t, I’d be a rich woman by now!

There are other reviewers out there who did  get it and that’s a good thing!

Change of subject: I can hear lots of birdsong this morning! Heavenly. I know that we’ll have very cold temps at nighttime for the next week, but temps during the day are warming up. March doesn’t want to give up winter just yet and there will be the inevitable ‘snow showers,’ but they won’t last…because spring is just around the corner!

This is what a about-to-open new leaf looks like on a rubber plant. Isn’t that splash of red beautiful?

I have to buy some groceries today and then I’m going to lay low for the rest of the day. Don has one show this afternoon and then he has the evening and tomorrow off. I’m planning on heading back into the city for the March for Our Lives this Saturday. Then I will most likely stay for a couple of days, or Don will come home with me. We’ll see.

Happy Sunday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
